This page covers that shuttle, the return, the fees you pay on the way and the alternative of going to Flores first. The page names a hotel in Tikal as the only drop-off. If you are staying in El Remate or Flores instead, ask the operator before booking; the page does not cover it.
How the trip runs
- Belize City, 12:00. Pick-up is at the Atlanta Express office in the Belize City water taxi terminal. It is not a hotel pick-up.
- Melchor de Mencos. Adrenalina’s wording: “There is ALWAYS a change of vehicle at the border Melchor de Mencos”. You leave Belize, pay the departure fees and enter Guatemala here. Hours, procedure and what to watch for at this post are on Melchor de Mencos border crossing.
- El Remate. The page says you change to a private car in El Remate and then go on to your hotel in Tikal.
- Tikal, about 18:30. That time is simple arithmetic on the published 12:00 departure and 6.30-hour duration; it is not an operator promise.
The Ministry of Culture’s Tikal page places the park 63 km from Flores and describes the road in: the CA-13 towards Melchor de Mencos, then the turn-off at Aldea Ixlú that leads to El Remate and on to the park entrance.

The BMA lists these as fees “upon departure through any border point”, payable by all persons who are not citizens or permanent residents of Belize (read October 21, 2026). For Guatemala, Tica Bus’s migration-requirements page states: “Para ingresar y salir de Guatemala no hay pago de impuestos” (no taxes to enter or leave Guatemala). That is a bus company’s summary, not a government notice.

Going to Flores first

Adrenalina picks up for Flores at the Marlin Espada office in the main water taxi terminal, not the Atlanta Express office used for Tikal, and it also changes vehicle at Benque Viejo / Melchor de Mencos. Guatemala Transportation lists a Pullman bus from Belize City to Flores at the same time and price. From Flores, the shuttles, sunrise trips and ticket rules are on Flores to Tikal.

The two Adrenalina pages disagree on the minimum: ask before booking if you travel alone. From Flores rather than Tikal, Adrenalina lists a 06:00 departure to the Belize City water taxi terminal for 35 USD, 6 hours, leaving from the I LOVE PETEN letters at the entrance of Flores. The rest of the Flores options are on Flores to Belize City. Leaving from San Ignacio instead? The western Belize side of the border, with its buses and taxis, is on Flores to San Ignacio.
What the sellers’ pages leave out
