Guatemala Life (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website livinginguatemala.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

What We Collect

Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our site. These services collect anonymized data including pages visited, time on site, approximate location (country/city level), device type, scroll behavior, and referral source. They do not collect your name, email, or other personal identifiers. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising data. When advertising is enabled on the site, our advertising partners and their vendors may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your interactions with our site and other sites in order to serve advertising relevant to your interests. Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use your email only to send Guatemala-related content updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Contact / email. If you email us at stu@livinginguatemala.com, we receive your email address and message content. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.

Cloudflare. Our site is served through Cloudflare’s CDN, which may set technical cookies (such as __cflb and __cf_bm) for security and performance. These are strictly necessary cookies.

Google Analytics. GA4 sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies expire after 2 years or 24 hours respectively.

Microsoft Clarity. Clarity sets cookies (such as _clck, _clsk, MR, MUID, SM, ANONCHK) to capture anonymized session replay and heatmap data. These cookies expire between 1 day and 1 year.

Advertising cookies. When advertising is enabled, our ad partners (including Mediavine and Google AdSense / DoubleClick) may set cookies for ad measurement, frequency capping, and audience interest grouping. Analytics data is processed by Google under their privacy terms. Newsletter emails are stored securely with our email service provider. We do not maintain databases of personal information on our servers.
