Quick summary

On 1 Oct 2026 Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com were queried for the same 2-night stay, 3 to 5 Nov 2026, for 2 adults. For two guests, the lowest median in that capture was Booking.com entire places in Antigua ($57, small sample of 17), Booking.com hotel rooms at Lake Atitlán ($47), Airbnb in Guatemala City ($54) and Airbnb on the Pacific coast ($107, small sample of 14). Vrbo published a two-guest median only at Lake Atitlán ($78); in the other three markets it had fewer than ten priced listings for two. Every figure is the nightly rate each platform displayed for that stay (as our dataset notes, a displayed promotion is usually already inside it), with cleaning, service fees and taxes excluded on all three platforms.

This is the first comparison of the three platforms on this site. Each platform’s search results were captured on the same day, 1 Oct 2026, for one fixed stay window, which is the only reason the three can sit in one table. Each sample is capped, so the figures are medians of what was still available for those dates on each platform, not a census of every listing in the market. Treat a gap between platforms as a reading of one stay window, not a permanent price ranking.

Median nightly rate for 2 guests; the figure in parentheses is the number of priced listings in the sample.

All three platforms were queried for the SAME stay: a 2-night weekday stay from 2026-11-03 to 2026-11-05, priced for 2 adults. Each figure is the nightly rate the platform displayed for that stay (a displayed promotion is usually already inside it) - not a booked rate and not an all-in total: cleaning fees, service fees and taxes are quoted differently by each platform and are excluded everywhere. The Airbnb and Vrbo rows are whole places; the Booking.com hotel-room row is the cheapest room sleeping two at a hotel-type property, which is a different product, and the Booking.com entire-place row is entire units only. Each sample is capped, so these are medians of a sample of what was still available for those dates, not of every listing. * = small sample (10–19 listings); "—" = fewer than 10 priced listings, so no figure is published. Source: Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com search results via Apify.

The table shows the median nightly rate for two guests per market, with the number of priced listings behind each cell in parentheses. Booking.com takes two columns, hotel rooms and entire places, computed separately from the same Booking.com sample. A cell with fewer than ten priced listings shows a dash instead of a number, and a figure from 10 to 19 listings is marked as a small sample.

The three platforms do not price the same thing

The figures share a stay window, but each platform reports the nightly price differently, and the capture records which number was taken from each:

  • Airbnb: the base nightly price shown in Airbnb’s price breakdown for the stay. Airbnb columns are whole places.
  • Vrbo: the median of the per-night prices on each listing’s calendar inside the stay window. Vrbo columns are whole places.
  • Booking.com: the price of the lowest-priced available room or unit sleeping at least two, for the whole stay, divided by the 2 nights. The hotel-room column is a room at a hotel-type property, a different product from a whole place; the entire-place column covers whole units listed on Booking.com.

In all three cases the figure is the nightly rate the platform displayed for that stay (as our dataset notes, a displayed promotion is usually already inside it). It is not a booked rate and not an all-in total, because cleaning fees, service fees and taxes are quoted differently by each platform and were excluded everywhere. A lower median on one platform therefore says nothing about which platform would give the lower total at checkout for the same stay.

In Antigua the lowest two-guest median in the 1 Oct 2026 capture was Booking.com entire places at $57 a night, on a small sample of 17 priced listings (p25 to p75: $32 to $82). The highest was Booking.com hotel rooms at $88, on 62 listings, more than any other Antigua column in this capture. Airbnb entire places sat between them at $82 on 21 listings ($70 to $120). Vrbo published no two-guest median: only 6 of its 80 sampled Antigua listings were priced for two. Airbnb’s $82 and the Booking.com hotel-room $88 each sit inside the other’s p25 to p75 range, so the gap between them is narrow next to the spread within each platform.

Lake Atitlán is the only market where all four columns published a two-guest median. The lowest was Booking.com hotel rooms at $47 a night on 27 listings ($31 to $64). The highest was Airbnb entire places at $102, on a small sample of 16 ($93 to $157). Among whole places, Booking.com entire places ($76, 31 listings) and Vrbo ($78, small sample of 13) came within $2 of each other, a gap too small to rank on a Vrbo sample of 13; both sat below Airbnb’s median in this capture.

In Guatemala City and metro the order flipped. Airbnb entire places had the lowest two-guest median, $54 a night, on 31 listings ($47 to $61). The highest was Booking.com entire places at $108, on 64 listings ($85 to $128). Booking.com hotel rooms came in at $96 on a small sample of 14. Vrbo published no two-guest median: 5 priced listings for two out of 30 sampled. The Airbnb and Booking.com entire-place ranges did not overlap at all in this capture, and the capital is the only one of the four markets where two cells with more than 20 listings each show ranges that do not overlap.

On the Pacific coast every published two-guest median rests on a small sample. Airbnb entire places were lowest at $107 a night (14 listings, $86 to $132), Booking.com hotel rooms came in at $121 (11 listings) and Booking.com entire places were highest at $323 (12 listings, $156 to $444). Vrbo had no priced two-guest listings at all among the 30 it returned for the coast, so no Vrbo figure exists here. With every cell between 11 and 14 listings, the coast’s order is a reading of a thin sample rather than a ranking.

How to read a gap between platforms

Four checks, all taken from the table itself, decide how much a gap between two platforms means:

  1. Look at the listing count before the price. A lower median on 10 to 19 listings is too small a sample to rank one platform ahead of another. That applies to Booking.com entire places in Antigua ($57 on 17), Vrbo at Lake Atitlán ($78 on 13) and every published cell on the Pacific coast.
  2. Compare the p25 to p75 ranges, not only the medians. Where they overlap, as Airbnb and Booking.com hotel rooms do in Antigua, listings on either platform can come in above or below the other’s median. Where they do not overlap, as with Airbnb and Booking.com entire places in Guatemala City, the gap held across the middle half of each sample.
  3. Compare like with like. A Booking.com hotel room is a different product from an Airbnb or Vrbo whole place. The like-for-like whole-place comparison is Airbnb, Vrbo and the Booking.com entire-place column.
  4. Remember what is left out. All three figures exclude cleaning fees, service fees and taxes, which each platform quotes differently, so the platform with the lower nightly median is not necessarily the one with the lower total for the same stay.

A blank Vrbo cell is a statement about this capture, not about Vrbo’s inventory in the real world: it means fewer than ten Vrbo listings for two were priced for the queried dates in the sample returned. For depth on Airbnb alone, the pages below break the Airbnb sample down by party size, by town around the lake and against long-term rent.
