Antigua to Cobán: Shuttles, Times & Fares [2026]

There is no direct public bus from Antigua to Cobán — but three agencies list an 08:00 shuttle departure. They quote different prices and different journey times for the same departure time. The alternative is to ride into Guatemala City and take Transportes Monja Blanca, the Cobán bus line, which publishes its timetable but not its fares. Everything here was read on 24 September 2026.

Quick summary

• One departure time, three prices: 08:00 from Antigua at USD$38 (AtitlanTour), USD$40 (Guatemala Transportation) or USD 45 (Adrenalina Tours, door to door).
• Journey time: 6.5 hours per AtitlanTour, 8 hours per Adrenalina. Guatemala Transportation publishes none.
• Overnight option: Guatemala Transportation, 23:00, USD$50, to Cobán and Lanquín.
• By bus: shuttle or bus to the capital, then Monja Blanca, which runs about hourly. It publishes no fares online.
• Return: 09:30 from Cobán, USD$38-40, with the same operators.

Three agencies, one 08:00 departure time

Three agencies sell the same 08:00 slot, and Adrenalina explains why: it says each agency sells tickets while only one or two tour operators actually run these shuttles. It is candid about its own seats too: its Cobán and Lanquín shuttles are not operated by Adrenalina but subcontracted, the buses are often old with little legroom, punctuality is not guaranteed, you cannot choose a seat, and every seat is filled. It also notes that people on the same bus pay different prices depending on the agency they booked with.

What that means for you: if Adrenalina’s account holds, the vehicle and the delays are shared, so the price difference is what you pay for the agency, not for a better bus. Adrenalina’s USD 45 includes door-to-door drop-off in Cobán; the other two publish no drop-off point.

Paying. Guatemala Transportation quotes in dollars at its own rate of Q8 per dollar, AtitlanTour at Q7.8 (Q8 in its booking form), and both say reservation payments are not refundable. Check today’s quetzal rate before paying in quetzales.

By bus: through the capital on Monja Blanca

There is no scheduled public bus between Antigua and Cobán. The bus route is two legs:

1. Antigua to Guatemala City — see our Antigua to Guatemala City guide for shuttles and buses.
2. Guatemala City to Cobán on Transportes Monja Blanca. The operator’s own timetable, read 24 September 2026:
   • Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: a bus every hour on the hour from 00:00 to 17:00, with Pullman Especial at 05:00, 07:00, 09:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 and Pullman Estándar on the other hours.
   • Wednesday and Thursday: 00:00, 01:00, 02:00, 03:00, 04:30, 06:00, 07:30, 09:00, 10:30, 12:00, 13:30, 15:00, 16:30, 17:30 (Especial in bold).
   • Monja Blanca adds that its coaster and “cobanerita” buses are scheduled by demand about every hour and a half, and that service types may change without notice.

Monja Blanca publishes no fares on its home, services, agencies or timetable pages. Ask at the counter or on its WhatsApp (46828667) before you go. Which terminal. The buses leave from Agencia Centra Norte, Km 8.5 carretera al Atlántico, zona 17 (06:00-18:00 daily). Monja Blanca also has an office at 8a. Avenida 15-16, zona 1 (00:00-18:00), but its help page explains that a municipal rule keeps pullman buses out of zona 1: tickets bought there come with a coaster transfer to Centra Norte, included in the fare. You must pay at the zona 1 office to ride that transfer.

When the bus route makes sense. If you want to leave Antigua later than 08:00, or you want to stop a night in the capital, the bus route gives you a departure almost every hour. The shuttle is the simpler day: one pickup in Antigua, no cross-city transfer.
