From Xela, step by step

  1. Book at least 72 hours ahead. The Lanquín entry reads “The shuttle services need to be reserved 72 hours in advance”, while the general note at the top of the page says 48 hours and adds that the service is only guaranteed if prepaid. Payment is through PayPal, and the page says all prices include it with no extra fees.
  2. Pick-up at 07:00 at your hotel or address. The page also says the driver does not knock: passengers wait in front of the hotel or homestay.
  3. Change vehicles at Los Encuentros or Cuatro Caminos: “At least one change, in Los Encuentros or Cuatro caminos”.
  4. Arrive in Cobán after 10 hours and in Lanquín after 12, as stated. The listed drop-off is the Health center in Lanquín.
  5. Timing: the operator warns its collective shuttles are not punctual, and asks you to be ready 15 minutes early and to call if the shuttle is 20 minutes late. The number on the page is 502 5308 5106.

The route entry answers “Yes” to door to door service, but its own drop-off is the Lanquín Health center, and it limits drops to hotels in the centre of Lanquín.

Lanquín is not Semuc Champey

The Quetzaltenango page is explicit that “we do NOT bring people to hotels near SEMUC CHAMPEY” and does not pick people up there either. The last stretch from Lanquín to Semuc Champey is covered on Antigua to Semuc Champey.

The Huehuetenango option

Adrenalina’s Huehuetenango page lists a separate product, Shuttle Huehuetenango to Coban / Lanquin:

  • Every day at 09:00, departure from your hotel or address.
  • 9 hours, stated; the page does not say whether that is to Cobán or to Lanquín.
  • Connection: printed as “Conection in San Pedro Jocopila”.
  • US$75 per person. The route entry says the shuttle needs to be reserved 48 hours in advance; the page header says 72 hours and adds “We only guarantee the service if prepaid 72 hours in advance”.
  • Out of stock in the booking widget on October 9, 2026.

Coming back: Lanquín to Xela

Adrenalina’s Lanquín page lists Shuttle Lanquin to Quetzaltenango:

  • Departs Lanquín at 08:00 and Cobán at 10:00, every day.
  • Pick-up at the “Bus station next to hotel EL RECREO in Lanquin”.
  • 10 hours stated; US$75; reserve 48 hours ahead.

The Lanquín page shows no route back to Huehuetenango. If Semuc is a stop on the way to Petén rather than a round trip, the onward shuttles are on Lanquín to Flores. Getting to Xela in the first place is on Antigua to Quetzaltenango. Driving yourself instead is a separate subject; road guides are in the driving section.
