Adrenalina Tours sells a shuttle from Copán Ruinas in Honduras to Santa Ana in El Salvador. This page covers that shuttle, what you need at the Salvadoran border, and the gaps in what the operator publishes. Getting to Copán in the first place is on Guatemala to Copán.

Routes between Guatemala and Copán, and the Copán-side border, are covered on Guatemala to Copán.

Which border, and what is open

Adrenalina’s page names no crossing for this route. El Salvador’s Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería lists the three land crossings in Santa Ana department, plus El Poy, a Honduras crossing in Chalatenango, read October 9, 2026:

The Guatemala-El Salvador crossings, with their highways and customs hours, are compared on El Salvador border crossings, and the Guatemala-Honduras side on Honduras border crossings.

Entering El Salvador: documents and fees

From Tica Bus’s migration-requirements page, read October 9, 2026. These are a bus operator’s summary of the rules, not a government notice:

  • Passport: at least 6 months of validity. CA-4 nationals (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua) may enter with a national ID card.
  • Tourist card: “Se requiere una tarjeta de turista con un valor de $12 USD para los ciudadanos de los siguientes países:” The list that follows includes the United States, Canada and Mexico.
  • How to pay: “La tarjeta de turista se tramita al entrar en cualquier frontera terrestre, debe pagar la tarifa de $12.00 USD en efectivo, ya que es la única forma de pago aceptada.” In other words, it is issued at any land border and paid in cash only.
  • If the shuttle passes through Guatemala: the same page states “Para ingresar y salir de Guatemala no hay pago de impuestos.”

Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are all CA-4 countries; how time spent in the bloc counts against a Guatemalan stay is on the CA-4 border run guide.

Coming back: Santa Ana to Copán

Adrenalina’s product page sells only the Copán to Santa Ana direction, and the shuttle menu on the operator’s site, read October 9, 2026, lists departure hubs in Guatemala, Honduras (Copán), Mexico and Belize but none in El Salvador. Ask the operator about a return before relying on one. Heading from El Salvador to Antigua instead? The shuttles and buses on that corridor are on Antigua to San Salvador.
