Corinto is the Guatemala–Honduras crossing on the Caribbean side: from Izabal into the municipality of Omoa, Cortés, on the way to Puerto Cortés and San Pedro Sula. It is an integrated post, so SAT gives its Guatemalan customs office a Honduran address, and it is the crossing the Guatemala City–San Pedro Sula Pullmans name. Unlike the other two Honduran posts, its hours are a single window, 05:00 to 22:00, and the Honduran side publishes the same hours. Everything below was read on 1 October 2026 unless dated otherwise.

Quick summary

  • Where: SAT’s integrated post is in Aldea Corinto, Omoa, Cortés, Honduras. On IGM’s delegations map (2020 file, archived October 2022) the Guatemalan delegation for this crossing is El Cinchado, Izabal, 293 km, 4:30 hours by road from Guatemala City.
  • Hours: SAT 05:00-22:00 every day; Honduras’s migration 5 a.m.-10 p.m. every day. IGM publishes no hours.

Compare Agua Caliente and El Florido, where SAT publishes separate goods and tourist windows: Corinto has one window for everything, from 05:00 to 22:00. SAT’s services line for the post lists goods (import, export, transit and FYDUCA) and tourists. SAT’s switchboard is (502) 2329-7070, extension 7411 for administration and 7410 for resolutions; INM’s line is (504) 2232-7800.

The UK’s Honduras advice says, about Honduras’s land borders generally, that it is often better to cross in the morning, as borders sometimes close in the early evening and remain closed at night.

Both sellers list the same two departure times; neither page names the bus company that runs the service, so we do not say whether it is one bus or two. Marvelus lists a 25 kg luggage allowance plus a handbag, and its booking is non-refundable. For Copán Ruinas, use El Florido instead: Guatemala to Copán.

From Puerto Barrios: we found no bus timetable from Puerto Barrios to the Corinto crossing (checked 1 October 2026). Getting to Puerto Barrios from the capital is on Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios.

El Cinchado: the Guatemalan name for this crossing

IGM’s delegations map (2020 file, archived October 2022) shows no delegation called Corinto. Its land delegation on this stretch is El Cinchado, Izabal, at 293 km and 4:30 hours from Guatemala City. Infobae’s report ties the two names together: on 23 September 2026 Infobae reported that IGM, during controls at El Cinchado, Izabal on 21 and 22 September, attended about 400 people arriving from Honduras, found 250 of them in regular status, and issued 106 orders to leave the country within 24 hours to people who had entered without meeting the requirements; it also reported that three IGM teams operate in the Puesto Fronterizo Integrado Corinto to verify entry requirements, with the PNC supporting. IGM’s director described the movement as everyday flow rather than an organised caravan.

For a traveller the practical point is that IGM checks entry requirements at this post. Have your documents ready on both sides.

What happened here before

  • November 2020: the integrated post closed after hurricanes Eta and Iota damaged the access roads, and reopened on 30 November 2020, less than a month later (Aduana News). The same report places the post between Puerto Barrios and Santo Tomás de Castilla in Guatemala and Puerto Cortés in Honduras.
  • September to December 2021: when Agua Caliente closed for a Bailey bridge, Corinto was made the alternate route for heavy cargo, and its hours were extended to 05:00-22:00 (La Prensa, Honduras). The paper reported about 1,400 tourists and about 450 heavy vehicles a day through Corinto at the time, and the Guatemalan migration chief there said four Guatemalan delegates were working 05:00 to 22:00.
  • May 2026: Honduras’s customs administration and the Inter-American Development Bank were working on a plan to strengthen the integrated post: infrastructure for faster vehicle flow, simplified joint procedures with Guatemala, and digital cargo-control tools (Maya TV, Honduras). No completion date was published.

IGM’s Semana Santa 2022 bulletin recorded increased flow at El Florido and Corinto, against little movement at Agua Caliente; the record is on border wait-times.

Entering Honduras

Two points from the UK government’s Honduras advice (updated 29 July 2026):

  • British nationals must have a visa to visit Honduras, even though Honduras is part of the CA-4 agreement.
  • Immigration may charge a USD 3 cash fee at a land border; keep the receipt until you leave Honduras and make sure your passport is stamped.

Your CA-4 stay is shared with Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua; see the CA-4 border run. Other nationalities: check Honduras’s requirements for your passport with Honduran authorities.

What is not published

  • Crossing or queue times, on either side.
  • IGM’s hours for its El Cinchado delegation.
  • A bus timetable from Puerto Barrios to the border.
  • Which company operates the 05:30 and 23:00 Pullmans to San Pedro Sula.
