Quick summary: Paredon Travel lists a direct private Xela–El Paredon service in both directions: Q1,650 for 1 to 3 people or Q1,980 for 4 to 7 people. A shared seat from Xela is sold by Neway with a connection in Antigua: 8:00am, GTQ 310, approximately 7hrs. Paredon Travel’s scheduled shared departure runs the other way, El Paredon to Xela at 8:00 AM, on the direct coast road it says avoids the detour through Antigua or the capital.

This page covers El Paredon and the direct-versus-Antigua choice. Xela to Champerico covers a different coastal destination.

For a shared seat starting in Xela on the direct road, a fare is not published by Paredon Travel (checked 31 October 2026) on its route page. That page directs customers to ask on WhatsApp about shared seats for their travel date. Do not apply the El Paredon departure time to Xela. Neway’s two cards do not state whether the fare is per person.

Departure points and journey time

Paredon Travel describes private pickup from your hotel in Xela. Its shared return card names hostels in El Paredon and central Xela near Parque Central. Confirm the particular hostel and meeting point when booking; the card does not provide a street address.

Paredon Travel describes its direct route along the Pacific highway (CA-2) and the climb to Quetzaltenango via Retalhuleu / Zunil. Its private cards give 4.5 hrs; its shared card gives 4.5 – 5 hrs, and it says the 8:00 AM departure from El Paredon reaches Xela around 1:00 PM. These are operator estimates, not an arrival guarantee. The same page warns of a strong climate change on the way, from +32 °C to 12 °C, as the road climbs from sea level to 2,330 metres, and suggests keeping a sweater to hand.

Neway explicitly labels both of its Xela–El Paredon products as connecting in Antigua, with an approximate 7hrs against Paredon Travel’s 4.5 to 5. If you are arranging a separate Antigua leg, consult Antigua to El Paredon. Do not treat Neway’s connecting product and Paredon Travel’s direct product as the same service.
