What you do
ChocoMuseo lists three highlights and three inclusions. In its words, summarised:
- Every handcraft step. You do all the handicraft steps of transforming the cacao.
- From the tree. You learn the whole chocolate-making process, starting from the cacao tree in the jungle.
- History in a cup. You prepare and try drinks like those the Maya and the Spanish conquistadors drank, and go through the history of chocolate up to the industrial revolution.
- Your own chocolates. You mould chocolates with a selection of more than a dozen flavourings, customised as you like, and take them home.
Fitting it into your day
The two slots shape the plan:
| Slot | Class | Chocolates ready | Works for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:00 | 11:00-13:00 | ~14:00 | A morning walk first, lunch before you collect them |
| 15:00 | 15:00-17:00 | ~18:00 | A day trip in the morning, e.g. Iximché or the Valhalla macadamia farm |
The ready times simply add ChocoMuseo’s one hour to the end of each 2-hour class.
Check the slot time when you book. ChocoMuseo’s booking widget shows times in America/Lima time, which is one hour ahead of Guatemala — confirm which Antigua time your slot is before you plan around it.
