Livingston, in Izabal, has its own boat to Punta Gorda in southern Belize: Adrenalina Tours sells it Monday to Friday at 11:00, and the return at 14:00. This page covers that crossing in both directions. The daily boat from Puerto Barrios, its older 2020 timetable and the fee detail are on Puerto Barrios to Punta Gorda by boat.
Quick summary
- Livingston → Punta Gorda: 11:00, Monday to Friday, 1.30 hours, USD 60 (Adrenalina Tours, checked October 21, 2026).
- Punta Gorda → Livingston: 14:00, Monday to Friday, 1.30 hours, USD 60.
- Booking: Adrenalina asks for 48 hours’ notice on every boat, and its Río Dulce shuttle page says it only guarantees a service prepaid 48 hours ahead.
- Weekends: neither Livingston boat is listed on weekends. Adrenalina’s Puerto Barrios boat is listed daily at 10:30.
- Exit stamp: IGM’s directory lists a Delegación Migratoria in Livingston, Barrio El Centro; neither the directory nor Adrenalina’s pages say where boat passengers are stamped out, so ask at booking. Guatemala charges no exit fee.
- Belize: BZ$40 (US$20) to leave Belize, paid in Punta Gorda on the return leg.
Both directions, and the Puerto Barrios boats
Adrenalina Tours lists four boats between Izabal and Punta Gorda on its Río Dulce shuttle page. All four are USD 60 and all four ask for 48 hours’ notice (checked October 21, 2026):
| Boat | Days | Departs | Duration listed | Fare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Livingston → Punta Gorda | Monday to Friday | 11:00 | 1.30 hours | USD 60 |
| Punta Gorda → Livingston | Monday to Friday | 14:00 | 1.30 hours | USD 60 |
| Puerto Barrios → Punta Gorda | Daily | 10:30 | 1.30 hours | USD 60 |
| Punta Gorda → Puerto Barrios | Monday to Friday | 14:00 | 2 hours | USD 60 |
The Puerto Barrios boat names its boarding point: the public dock in Puerto Barrios, on a boat named Pichilingo. The two Livingston product pages have a pick-up field but print no dock or meeting point, so confirm where to board when you book.
Livingston or Puerto Barrios?
- On a weekday, the Livingston boat saves you the lancha ride to Puerto Barrios. Both towns’ boats cost the same USD 60 on Adrenalina’s page.
- On a Saturday or Sunday, Adrenalina’s only boat to Belize is the 10:30 from Puerto Barrios. The lanchas between Livingston and Puerto Barrios are on Guatemala City to Livingston.
- Coming back, every Adrenalina boat out of Punta Gorda leaves at 14:00, Monday to Friday. The difference is the arrival: Livingston at 1.30 hours, Puerto Barrios at 2 hours. Buses from Puerto Barrios to the capital are on Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios.
Leaving Guatemala at Livingston
- Where: the Instituto Guatemalteco de Migración’s public-information directory, January 2023 edition (the file IGM still serves, downloaded October 21, 2026), lists the Delegación Migratoria de Livingston at Barrio El Centro, zona 0, Livingston, phone 2411-2411, email livingston@igm.gob.gt. The same directory lists a separate Delegación Migratoria de Puerto Barrios on 1a. avenida centro, between 10 and 11 calle. Neither the directory nor Adrenalina’s pages say where boat passengers are stamped out; ask at booking.
- Fee: none. IGM’s tariff, Acuerdo IGM-029-2023 as reformed by IGM-039-2025, Art. 3, numeral 4.2, lists the migration-control charges (visitor card, certifications, ship visits and others) and has no exit charge. Our border-run cost page covers the tariff in full.
- Hours: the directory gives no opening hours. Ask Adrenalina at booking how its passengers get the stamp before the 11:00 departure.
Arriving in Punta Gorda, and leaving Belize
- Belize’s departure fees apply to everyone who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Belize, at land borders and sea ports: Departure Fee BZ$30.00, Border Development Fee BZ$2.50, P.A.C.T. Fee BZ$7.50, per the Border Management Agency of Belize (checked October 21, 2026). That is BZ$40, or US$20 at the fixed rate of BZ$2 to US$1 that the Central Bank of Belize describes. BMA’s fee page lists fees for travellers on departure and none on arrival.
- On the way back, Adrenalina’s Punta Gorda to Puerto Barrios page adds a line that its Punta Gorda to Livingston page does not carry: “It is always necessary to go to immigration first for the stamp”. guidetobelize.info (September 2020) described the same order in Punta Gorda: ticket first, then the customs office for the stamp and the exit fee, before departure.
The 2020 timetable still in circulation
The Belize travel guide guidetobelize.info, on a water-taxi page dated September 2020, said of the Punta Gorda to Puerto Barrios boats: “On Tuesdays and Fridays they also going to Livingston”. Its timetable names Requena Charter Services, Memo’s Boat Service and Asugena. That page is six years old. Adrenalina’s Monday-to-Friday listing, checked October 21, 2026, is the dated timetable to plan on.
