Guatemala City Bus Terminals 2026: Where Every Route Departs

Guatemala City has no central bus station. The terminal is chosen by your destination, not by convenience.

Quick summary: At least eight departure points sit across zonas 1, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 17, plus CENMA in Villa Nueva — each run by a different operator. Litegua alone has four capital addresses in three zones. Centra Norte serves only the eastern corridor and the Verapaces. Petén, Xela and the Pacific coast leave from elsewhere. Every international operator departs from a hotel, not a bus station.

The two questions people actually search

Litegua Zona 1 departure times — horarios de salida de Litegua zona 1. The Zona 1 terminal is at 15 Calle 10-40, zona 1, phone 2326-9400. Litegua’s booking system returned 12 capital departures for Puerto Barrios on 15 September 2026, 04:00 to 19:00 — full table below. The caveat: the online timetable does not say which of Litegua’s four capital terminals each departure uses, so confirm the terminal when you book.

Which terminal for your destination

Flores, Santa Elena and Tikal. Fuente del Norte, zona 1 or Aguilar Batres; its station list covers Santa Elena/Flores, Melchor de Mencos, Sayaxché and El Naranjo. Not Centra Norte — Petén is absent from its directory. See Guatemala City to Flores and Tikal and Fuente del Norte schedules and fares.

Puerto Barrios, Río Dulce and the Atlantic corridor. Litegua, from any of its four capital addresses. Its booking system sells stops from Sanarate, El Rancho and Teculután out to Morales, Santo Tomás de Castilla and Puerto Barrios, plus Chiquimula, Jocotán and El Florido. Quetzaltenango (Xela). Fuente del Norte lists a Quetzaltenango station (5 Calle 12-05, zona 3), so its capital stations serve the corridor. Transportes Galgos is still widely named on the Xela and Tapachula routes, but as of 12 September 2026 publishes nothing: its domains do not resolve, and no address or schedule exists to quote. Esquipulas. Fuente del Norte lists an Esquipulas station (11 Calle 01-042, zona 1); Litegua reaches Chiquimula and El Florido nearby. Guatemala City to Esquipulas.

San Salvador and Central America. Four departure points, none of them a bus station: Tica Bus zona 12, Pullmantur zona 10, Comfort Lines zona 10, Transporte del Sol zona 13. The Pacific coast and the south. No operator captured on 12 September 2026 publishes a capital departure point for the Pacific coast. Only the arrival side is documented: MAGA records buses from southern departments and municipios arriving at CENMA in Villa Nueva.

Litegua’s published capital departures

Queried from Litegua’s reservation system on 12 September 2026, for Ciudad Capital → Puerto Barrios on 15 September 2026:

Q100–150 is roughly US$13–20 at Q7.62817 per dollar (Banguat, 12 September 2026). Litegua’s marketing claims “horarios de salida cada 30 minutos”; this route returned 12 buses across 15 hours — roughly hourly. And again: the system does not say which terminal each bus uses.

Centra Norte and Centra Sur

Centra Norte (zona 17, tel 2500-9800) publishes its own destination-to-operator directory, and the list is complete and short:

That is the whole directory: no Petén, no western highlands, no Pacific coast, no international service. The 09:00–20:00 hours on Centra Norte’s website are the shopping centre’s, not the bus terminal’s — no terminal operating hours are published.

Centra Sur is a different thing: a Transmetro transfer station next to CENMA in Villa Nueva, whose line runs to Plaza Barrios, zona 1. It has no official website — everything here comes from the MAGA study.

The Cobán split — the one that costs people a bus

Monja Blanca runs Cobán from two capital terminals, divided by the hour. Its timetable flags the 01:00, 02:00, 03:00, 04:00 and 05:00 services “Sale Zona 1” — 8a Avenida 15-16. From 06:00 onward they leave from Centra Norte, zona 17. Mon–Sat the table runs to 18:00 (that last one Friday only); Sunday keeps the same Zona 1 block. The operator warns that coaster and cobanerita buses run by demand within an hour and a half, and service types can change without notice.

Counter hours: Zona 1 publishes 00:00–18:00 daily (encomiendas Mon–Fri 06:00–20:00, Sat–Sun 06:00–18:00); Centra Norte 06:00–18:00 daily.

CENMA, Villa Nueva — and how to reach it

CENMA is not in zona 12 of Guatemala City. A 2023 MAGA study places it in zona 12 of the municipality of Villa Nueva, a 38.92-hectare site. It is primarily a wholesale market — about 1,700 tenants — where buses from southern departments and municipios also arrive. MAGA records roughly 20,000 people through it between 04:00 and 17:00, and 60,000 over 24 hours; that is footfall, not opening hours. Since 2020 it has run its own administration, linked to the Municipalidad de Guatemala.

Driving from the Centro Histórico, per MAGA: 8a avenida south, turn on 14 calle toward Avenida Elena heading south, join the CA-9 via Avenida Bolívar, pass El Trébol, continue on Calzada Aguilar Batres southbound into Villa Nueva, then turn at 21 avenida, zona 12 de Villa Nueva onto Boulevard CENMA, straight to the entry gates.

One warning: cenma.com.gt is an unrelated grocery shop, not the terminal — CENMA has no official website.

Getting to each terminal

Only CENMA’s access route and the Centra Sur Transmetro line have a primary source (both above). No operator or city authority publishes transit directions to any other terminal, so this page does not invent them. Geography helps: the zona 17 terminals sit on the Carretera al Atlántico at km 8.5–9.5, well outside the centre; the three zona 1 terminals are inside the old city; zona 10 and 13 are hotels. See Uber in Guatemala, the chicken bus guide and the bus fares hub.

Practical notes

• Confirm the terminal, not just the time. Litegua sells four capital addresses without saying which your bus uses; Monja Blanca splits one route across terminals 9 km apart.
• A 01:00 departure means being in zona 1 at 01:00 — a real constraint on the Cobán route. No source captured rates that block, so arrange a ride door to door.
• CENMA is a market, not a passenger terminal — expect cargo and crowds.
• Fuente del Norte publishes no timetable and no fares on its own site — only station addresses and service classes. Its published contact email carries a typo in the operator’s own HTML, so use the phone.
• King Quality could not be verified: its server was unreachable on 12 September 2026, so nothing is quoted here.
• No terminal publishes a left-luggage, accessibility or security-screening policy.
