Boats link the public dock in Puerto Barrios, on Guatemala’s Caribbean coast, with Punta Gorda in southern Belize. No company on this crossing runs a timetable website we could reach, so this page sets the two published sources side by side, each with its date, and adds the government fees that apply either way. The one current figure is a seller’s 2026 listing; the boat company’s own times and fare come from a guide dated September 2020.

The two sources describe different departures six years apart: the 10:30 is a seller’s current seat on a named boat, and the 14:00 was the Punta Gorda company’s return run in 2020. The fare gap (USD 60 against about US$20) is between a 2026 agency price and a 2020 guide figure for buying from the boat company. Requena’s own website (puntagordabelize.com) did not resolve on 24 September 2026, so we could not confirm its current times or fare at source.
Leaving Guatemala at Puerto Barrios
- No Guatemalan exit fee. IGM’s published tariff, Acuerdo IGM-029-2023 (as reformed by IGM-039-2025), Art. 3, numeral 4.2, lists no exit fee among its charges. The detail is on our border-run cost page.
- Your exit stamp. IGM publishes its border posts only as a map image with no hours (read 20 September 2026 for our border wait-times page), so we cannot give you the hours of the migration desk at Puerto Barrios. Ask the boat company where it takes passengers for the stamp, and allow time for it before departure.
- Getting to Puerto Barrios: Litegua’s booking system listed 12 departures from Guatemala City for 6 October 2026 (Q120-200); see Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios.
Arriving in or leaving Belize at Punta Gorda
- Entering Belize: no source we found publishes an entry fee for Belize.
- Leaving Belize: the Border Management Agency of Belize charges non-citizens BZ$40.00 (Departure Fee BZ$30.00, Border Development Fee BZ$2.50, P.A.C.T. Fee BZ$7.50), which is US$20 at Belize’s fixed rate of BZ$2 to US$1 (see our border-run cost page). The US Embassy in Belize gives a different number, approximately US$40, in a passage noting the fee may be included in an airline ticket; for a boat departure, BMA’s schedule is the one that sets the amount.
- Order of things in Punta Gorda: guidetobelize.info (September 2020) said that once you have your ticket you go to the customs office for your stamp and pay the exit fee before departure.
