Two days in Antigua can fit city orientation and a cooking class; three separates coffee, Pacaya and cooking onto different days; four allows an overnight Acatenango hike in place of Pacaya. Using operator prices checked 25 October 2026, the selected-item examples below total US$114.25, US$244.5 and US$329.5 + Q100 per person, respectively, including an airport arrival seat and assumed shared lodging. These are partial trip costs using an Airbnb nightly median observed 17 October 2026, with meals outside tour inclusions, fees, taxes and onward travel extra.
Quick summary:
- 2 days: arrival and orientation, then a morning pepián class; one city night.
- 3 days: coffee, Pacaya and cooking on separate days; two city nights.
- 4 days: coffee, cooking and overnight Acatenango; two city nights plus the operator overnight.
- Lodging assumption: two adults split an entire place at the historical Airbnb median of US$102.5 per night, n = 21. US$102.5 / 2 = US$51.25 each per city night.
- Arrival: Atitrans publishes approximately 1.5 hours from the airport to Antigua, checked 25 October 2026. That is journey time, separate from waiting for a departure.
What the priced plans include
These are example schedules for two adults travelling together. Each includes one Guatemala Transportation airport-to-Antigua seat at US$18 per person, checked 25 October 2026. The operator requires a reservation with partial or complete payment. Its listed 04:30pm service has a minimum of 3 passengers; do not assume that departure operates for your pair alone.
The activity prices below are from De La Gente, Adrenalina Tours and OX Expeditions, checked 25 October 2026. De La Gente lists coffee and cooking separately at US$45.00 per person, ages 5 and older, each requiring at least 2 adult participants. That condition matches the two-adult examples; these are not solo-traveller quotes.
| Plan | What fits, subject to arrival and booking times | Priced items per person | Selected-item total per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 days / 1 city night | Arrival and city orientation; De La Gente morning pepián class the next day | Guatemala Transportation arrival US$18 + De La Gente cooking US$45.00 + lodging (US$102.5 / 2) | US$18 + US$45.00 + US$51.25 = US$114.25 |
| 3 days / 2 city nights | De La Gente coffee, Adrenalina Tours Pacaya and De La Gente cooking on separate days | Arrival US$18 + coffee US$45.00 + Pacaya US$20 + Adrenalina’s entry allowance US$14 + cooking US$45.00 + lodging (2 × US$102.5 / 2) | US$18 + US$45.00 + US$20 + US$14 + US$45.00 + US$102.5 = US$244.5 |
| 4 days / 2 city nights + operator overnight | Coffee day, cooking day, then OX Expeditions overnight Acatenango; pre-trip meeting the preceding evening | Arrival US$18 + coffee US$45.00 + cooking US$45.00 + OX tour US$119.00 + lodging (2 × US$102.5 / 2); OX-listed entry Q100 separately | US$18 + US$45.00 + US$45.00 + US$119.00 + US$102.5 = US$329.5 + Q100 |
The lodging figure is per accommodation, not a per-person tariff. Our Airbnb observation dated 17 October 2026, for check-in 17 November 2026 and check-out 19 November 2026, gives the Antigua two-guest entire-home segment a nightly median of US$102.5, from 21 listings. It is a sample of asking rates, not a market-wide average or a booked rate. The examples assume equal sharing and apply that historical nightly figure to the selected number of city nights; they are not fetched accommodation quotes for those itineraries.
All totals exclude cleaning and service fees, taxes, tips, meals outside stated tour inclusions, other transfers, onward travel and any additional admission. The Acatenango example counts the operator overnight instead of another city night. No currency conversion is used: the Q100 remains separate.
Two days: arrival, orientation and a cooking morning
This is the short-stay example: arrive, leave time to explore the city, then take the morning pepián class before your separately arranged departure. It does not assume an airport landing time or guarantee a same-day tour connection.
De La Gente, checked 25 October 2026, gives the cooking experience approximately 3 to 3 ½ hours, including its transport. It lists pickup at 9:45 am or 14:45 pm, with return around 1:30 pm or 6:30 pm. The morning class therefore takes a substantial part of departure day; onward travel needs its own booking window. See the Antigua cooking class guide.
De La Gente says reservations must be made at least the day before; shorter notice requires contacting it for availability. Its cooking policy charges cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class and 50% for rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice. Arrival delays can therefore affect both scheduling and cost.
Three days: keep Pacaya separate from cooking
The example assigns coffee to the arrival day, Pacaya to the next day and cooking to the last day. That first coffee booking depends on your arrival fitting the operator’s schedule; arriving late means dropping or moving an activity, or adding a night.
De La Gente’s coffee tour, checked 25 October 2026, lasts approximately 3 ½ to 4 hours, including transport. Its inclusions list round-trip transport from Antigua, Spanish-English interpretation, a coffee-field tour with traditional roasting and grinding, coffee at the producer’s home and a 12 ounce bag of roasted coffee. Reservations are required at least the day before. More detail is in Antigua coffee tours.
Adrenalina Tours’ Pacaya shared tour, checked 25 October 2026, lists 6 hours, departures at 06:00 or 14:00, and US$20 including a Spanish-speaking guide and return transport from Antigua. The operator separately lists US$14 entrance fees as excluded. That is the operator’s entry figure, not an independently verified official park tariff. The basket therefore counts US$20 + US$14 = US$34 for that selection. See Pacaya day-hike tours.
Keeping Pacaya and cooking on separate days avoids building the itinerary around a tight connection between their published schedules.
Four days: replace Pacaya with overnight Acatenango
The example places coffee on arrival day, cooking the next day, then the Acatenango overnight across the remaining days. Arrival still has to fit the coffee booking. OX Expeditions, checked 25 October 2026, lists a 5 PM pre-trip meeting the day before the hike, so that evening must remain available.
OX displays US$119.00 per person for its overnight tour and separately excludes Q100 entry, guide tips, snacks and hiking poles. Its included meals are breakfast before the tour, then lunch, dinner and breakfast on the volcano. Optional extras are additional to the basket. OX’s terms identify its prices as US dollars.
The return itinerary has inconsistent clock notation, so this plan does not promise an exact return time or a same-day flight connection. The Acatenango overnight guide covers the hike separately. This four-day example changes the activity mix; it does not add Acatenango on top of the three-day Pacaya plan.
Other paid activities: swaps rather than automatic additions
Prices in this table were checked 25 October 2026 on each operator’s own page. These choices are outside the main basket totals.
| Operator and choice | Published charge | Time or condition that affects the plan |
|---|---|---|
| ChocoMuseo chocolate workshop | US$30.00 per adult; US$21.00 for children under 12 | Starts daily at 11am and 3pm; workshop lasts 2 hours, with chocolates ready for collection an hour later; between 1 and 6 participants |
| De La Gente combined coffee and cooking day | US$80.00 per person, ages 5 and older | Minimum 2 adult participants; individual tours unable to join a group carry an additional US$50 fee; replaces the separate classes |
| La Azotea adult coffee tour | Q100.00 tour + Q20.00 independent farm admission = Q120.00 | Guided coffee tour lasts 1 hour; admission is paid separately from activities |
| La Azotea adult museums | Q40.00 museums + Q20.00 independent farm admission = Q60.00 | Separate paid choice; the farm admission does not include the museums |
ChocoMuseo’s later collection time matters on departure day; see the chocolate workshop guide. The combined De La Gente day is an alternative to paying for separate coffee and cooking classes, so do not count all of them together.
Hobbitenango, checked 25 October 2026, describes a half-day or full-day visit and daily opening from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Its Day Pass page displays adult entry as $8, child entry as $6 and optional round-trip transport from its Antigua office as +$8 per person. The displayed child band is 4 to 10 years, with conditions to be confirmed when buying. Those dollar signs do not identify the currency in the text checked, so these amounts remain outside the US-dollar totals.
Transfers and where to sleep
Atitrans, checked 25 October 2026, publishes approximately 1.5 hours from Guatemala City or the airport to Antigua. This is the arrival direction; it does not establish an identical airport-bound journey. The basket’s airport fare comes from Guatemala Transportation, while the journey-time reference comes from Atitrans. They are separate operators, not one combined booking. See airport to Antigua transport.
For Lake Atitlán, Tropicana’s operator page, checked 25 October 2026, describes lake towns as 2:30-3:30 hours from Antigua. Its wording covers several lake destinations rather than a guaranteed Panajachel-specific journey. The Antigua to Lake Atitlán route guide is the next planning step; lake transport and accommodation are outside these Antigua baskets.
The lodging assumption holds the accommodation type constant so the selected activities and nights can be compared. Actual availability and checkout totals for your dates decide what you pay. Frequently Asked Questions
Is two days enough in Antigua Guatemala?
Two days can fit city orientation and a morning pepián class if your arrival allows it. The example totals US$114.25 per person: Guatemala Transportation airport arrival US$18 + De La Gente cooking US$45.00 + shared lodging US$102.5 / 2. Operator prices were checked 25 October 2026; lodging is a scenario using the 17 October 2026 Airbnb sample, not a current booking quote. Meals outside tour inclusions, fees, taxes and onward transport are extra.
What does a third day add in Antigua?
The three-day example puts De La Gente coffee, Adrenalina Tours Pacaya and De La Gente cooking on separate days. Its selected items total US$244.5 per person, using operator prices checked 25 October 2026 and two shared city nights at the historical Airbnb median. Pacaya’s US$14 entry allowance is Adrenalina Tours’ own published figure, separate from its US$20 tour.
How does Acatenango fit into four days?
The example uses a coffee day, a cooking day and the following overnight Acatenango hike. OX Expeditions lists a pre-trip meeting at 5 PM the day before. With two shared city nights, the selected items total US$329.5 plus Q100 per person. OX lists its tour at US$119.00 and excludes Q100 entry, tips, snacks and hiking poles; checked 25 October 2026.
Is the Airbnb median a price per person?
No. The 17 October 2026 sample gives US$102.5 per accommodation per night for the Antigua two-guest entire-home segment, n = 21, for a search stay of 17 to 19 November 2026. The examples assume two adults share equally: US$102.5 / 2 = US$51.25 per person per city night. Applying that rate to another stay is a scenario assumption.
How much arrival and onward travel time does Antigua need?
Atitrans publishes approximately 1.5 hours from Guatemala City or the airport to Antigua. Tropicana describes lake towns as 2:30-3:30 hours from Antigua, but that is broad route guidance rather than a guaranteed Panajachel-specific itinerary. Both operator pages were checked 25 October 2026. Airport waiting time and onward transfers are separate from the activity schedules.
