In short: Alliance for Coffee Excellence lists El Injerto I — 1A, 91.86, Las Macadamias — 1A, 90.77, and Los Aguacatones — 1A, 89.86 in separate Guatemala 2026 Cup of Excellence categories (read 25 October 2026). Anacafé describes Highland Huehue’s cup as fine, intense acidity with a full body and pleasant wine notes. These are specific competition results and a regional profile; neither tells you the score or availability of a bag offered by a US seller.

Quick summary

  • Match the lot: keep the competition year and category alongside the farm name and score.
  • Keep location separate: the locations below come from ACE’s farm-directory Location field, not the Region column of the result tables.
  • Check a visit directly: Hacienda del Café publishes a coffee-tour offer; an award listing alone does not mean a farm takes visitors.
  • Treat harvest timing carefully: the January-to-April evidence below is historical and farm-specific.

Anacafé’s Highland Huehue profile

Anacafé’s Highland Huehue page lists 5000 - 6500 ft and describes the cup as fine, intense acidity with a full body and pleasant wine notes (read 25 October 2026). Use that description to discuss a seller’s tasting notes, rather than assuming every farm, process or roast will taste identical.

The regional profile and the competition tables answer different questions: the former describes an origin; the latter identifies particular entries in dated competitions.

Cup of Excellence: selected category leaders

Alliance for Coffee Excellence lists the following selected category-leading lots for Guatemala, read 25 October 2026. This is a selection, rather than a complete winners list. Rank belongs to the named category, not an overall country ranking. Farm names, score punctuation and category labels are retained as printed in the result tables.

Locations below come separately from the corresponding ACE farm-directory Location fields. A result-table Region value is not treated as a municipality. The older editions are historical results, rather than current stock lists.

La Gran Manzana: location needs confirmation

ACE’s directory page for this entry prints Huehuetenango, Huehuetenango in its Location field. Elsewhere on the same page, beside links to other listings, the text “Cuilco, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, 15.40780, -91.94449” also appears. Because the page does not clearly tie one municipality to this entry, the table above leaves it unresolved. Confirm the farm location directly before using it for an itinerary.

Using the results when buying in the US

Ask the seller to match its award claim to the farm, competition year, category and lot, then check variety and processing. For example, ACE lists Las Macadamias as Natural in 2025, but Washed in 2026. The same farm name does not make these interchangeable entries.

The result tables list Geisha for El Injerto I’s 2026 Exotic Natural and Honey entry. Its 91.86 score belongs to that competition entry; it should not be applied to every coffee sold under the farm’s name.

Competition results and lot weights say nothing about current roasted-bean stock, consumer pack sizes or delivered US prices.

Harvest timing: historical evidence, not a regional calendar

An ACE farm-directory record associated with 2019 describes harvest as starting in January and ending in April (read 25 October 2026). That describes this farm’s record, not a single harvest window for all of Huehuetenango.

If harvesting is the reason for your visit, ask the operator whether harvesting will be taking place on your intended date. A tour description that mentions harvesting is not a guarantee that visitors will see it during every visit.

A published coffee-farm visit: Hacienda del Café

Hacienda del Café’s activities page advertises a guided finca coffee tour and mentions harvesting, processing and artisanal roasting (read 25 October 2026). Ask for the tour price, duration, guide language and booking availability directly before making travel arrangements.

Its own homepage gives differing access descriptions: 30 minutos from the urban area and 25 minutos from central Huehuetenango. These are separate published claims, rather than a verified travel-time range.

The competition farms above are listed for their results. Their inclusion does not mean they offer tours or permit unannounced visits. For another destination’s published tour options, see Antigua coffee tours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Huehuetenango coffee taste like?

Anacafé describes Highland Huehue as having fine, intense acidity with a full body and pleasant wine notes, read 25 October 2026. That regional description does not assign a competition score to every coffee from the region.

What did El Injerto I score in the 2026 Cup of Excellence?

Alliance for Coffee Excellence lists El Injerto I at rank 1A with score 91.86 in Exotic Natural and Honey. Its result lists Natural processing and Geisha variety. The farm directory places it in La Libertad, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, read 25 October 2026.

When is the Huehuetenango coffee harvest?

An ACE farm-directory record associated with 2019 describes a harvest starting in January and ending in April. This is historical, farm-specific evidence, rather than a current harvest calendar for the whole region. Confirm the farm and harvest year before arranging a harvest visit.

Can I book a coffee-farm visit in Huehuetenango?

Hacienda del Café advertises a guided finca tour covering harvesting, processing and artisanal roasting, read 25 October 2026. Ask the operator for price, duration, guide language, availability and directions before travelling. A Cup of Excellence award does not mean the farm takes visitors.

Do these results tell me a US retail price or stock?

No. These are dated competition-lot results. They give no current roasted-coffee availability or US consumer price. Ask the seller to identify the farm, lot, competition year, category, variety and process behind any award claim.
