This page is for visitors booking a few nights in Antigua Guatemala, not for people moving there. It sets out what our own measured sample of short-stay listings showed per night, broken down by group size, plus the arrival and safety points from government travel advice that bear on a short stay. If you are planning to rent for months, our where to live in Antigua guide covers sectors and monthly rents instead.

Quick summary: On 1 October 2026 we captured Airbnb listings in Antigua open for a two-night weekday stay (3 to 5 November 2026, 2 adults). A whole place for two had a median of US$82.3 per night (middle half US$70 to US$120); a private room for two, US$44.5 (small sample); a whole place for four, US$124.7; for six to eight guests, US$276.505. These are displayed nightly rates, not booked rates, and exclude fees and taxes. Only 9.7% of listings list air conditioning; 63.3% list parking. The Government of Canada says to arrange airport pickup with your hotel or use authorized cabs, and warns about drink spiking in tourist areas, especially in Antigua.

What a night in Antigua costs: our measured rates by group size

Source: our own Airbnb sample (Airbnb search results via Apify actor tri_angle/airbnb-scraper), captured 1 October 2026 for check-in 3 November and check-out 5 November 2026. USD per night. p25 and p75 mark the middle half of prices. Rates are what Airbnb displayed for listings still open on those dates, not booked rates; they exclude fees and taxes.

Our data file carries its own warning about reading this table: “Large homes are over-represented in the sample, so compare the guest-count segments, not the overall median”. Find the row that matches your group and ignore any single citywide figure.

Two of the two-guest rows rest on small samples. The hotel-room row is the clearest case: its median is US$75 but its p75 is US$202, a wide spread from only 12 listings.

One earlier capture, for context

Our previous capture, dated 4 September 2026, showed these Antigua medians: whole place for two US$91.9, private room for two US$35.0, hotel room for two US$256.01, whole place for four US$144.76. Two captures are not a trend, and both say nothing about Semana Santa or other high-season dates. Our sample covers one November weekday stay only.

What the listings offer

Same sample: 237 Antigua listings, 235 of them priced, captured 1 October 2026.

Hotel-room listings7.6%
List wifi98.7%
List air conditioning9.7%
List parking63.3%

Two lines matter for choosing a place. Air conditioning appears on fewer than one in ten listings, so if you need it, filter for it. Parking appears on 63.3%, so if you are driving, confirm parking on the specific listing before you book.

Other platforms: Vrbo and Booking.com

We ran the same stay dates on Vrbo and Booking.com (Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com search results via Apify actors tri_angle/airbnb-scraper, memo23/vrbo-scraper and voyager/booking-scraper; for this comparison the price basis is the stay total divided by nights).

Vrbo2 guests6no median (too few)no medianno median
Booking.com2 guests, hotel room62left out (see below)left outleft out

We leave the Booking.com figures out on purpose. Our data file records that the scraper does not document whether its prices are a stay total or a nightly rate, and the two readings give very different medians. Until that is resolved, a Booking.com number here would mislead. Our Airbnb vs Vrbo vs Booking.com comparison explains the method across markets.

Which area of Antigua?

This page does not give prices by neighbourhood or walking times to the centre. Our sample has no neighbourhood field: 197 listings carry the town label Antigua Guatemala and 38 carry no town label, so we cannot split rates by area. We also found no official source for walking distances; the Antigua municipality site was not usable for this when we last checked it.

For area background, read our pages on Centro Antigua and Jocotenango, and pair them with things to do in Antigua and Antigua restaurants to judge which part of town suits your plans.

How to choose a short stay in Antigua: 6 steps

  1. Pick the row for your group. Use the group-size table above, not an overall figure. A couple comparing whole places can use the US$70 to US$120 middle band as a reference point for a November weekday.
  2. Price the full stay. Our figures exclude fees and taxes, so compare the total the platform shows at checkout, not the headline nightly rate.
  3. Check the amenities you need. Filter for air conditioning (9.7% of our sample list it) and parking (63.3%) if they matter.
  4. Choose a place that can arrange your airport pickup. The Government of Canada advice says: “Arrange your pickup with your hotel before arrival when travelling by air or use authorized cabs at the airport”. See Guatemala City airport to Antigua and getting to Antigua for the route itself.
  5. Ask about security. The same advice says to “stay in accommodations with adequate security measures”. The UK FCDO recommends “keeping valuables safe (for example, in a hotel safe)”.
  6. Save the tourist assistance numbers before you arrive (listed in the next section).

The Guatemala-specific angle: arrival and tourist assistance

Two points in government travel advice bear on a short stay in Antigua: the trip from the airport, and nights out in tourist areas.

The airport run. The Government of Canada (page last updated 13 October 2026) tells travellers not to show signs of affluence, especially on arrival at the airport, “where travellers have been followed and robbed or carjacked en route to Guatemala City and Antigua”. The UK FCDO says “There have been armed attacks or robberies” on tourist routes, and names the Guatemala City to Antigua route among them. Canada’s advice to arrange your pickup with your hotel before arrival is the step this page connects to your choice of lodging. If your flight lands late, our guide to where to stay in Guatemala City and near the airport covers the overnight alternative.

Nights out. The Canadian advice says: “Drink spiking is a problem in tourist areas, especially in Antigua”. It adds that you should never leave food or drinks unattended or in the care of strangers.

Who to call. Canada says “Guatemalan authorities provide information and assistance to tourists via their ASISTUR and DISETUR programs”, and lists these contacts:

ServiceContact (per Government of Canada advice)
Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT)1500 or +502 2290-2800
ASISTUR+502 5188-1819 (WhatsApp)

The UK FCDO says that if you are a victim of a criminal attack, INGUAT has a tourist assistance and emergency service section, PROATUR, “who can help accompany you to your hotel or other safe place”.

For block-level safety detail, see our Antigua safety guide.

What we could not check. We tried INGUAT’s registry and portal pages on 15 October 2026 and they returned errors, so this page says nothing about whether any hotel or rental is registered with INGUAT, or whether short-term rental hosts must register. We also captured no source on lodging taxes added to rates, or on municipal rules for short-term rentals.

This page is general information, not legal or tax advice. If your stay raises a legal question, such as a dispute with a host, confirm your own case with a qualified attorney.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a place to stay in Antigua Guatemala cost per night?

In our own sample captured on 1 October 2026 for a two-night weekday stay (3 to 5 November 2026, 2 adults), a whole place for two in Antigua had a median of US$82.3 per night, with the middle half between US$70 and US$120 (21 listings). These are the nightly rates Airbnb displayed for listings still open on those dates, not booked rates. Our figures exclude fees and taxes.

What is the cheapest way to stay in Antigua?

In the same 1 October 2026 sample, a private room for two had a median of US$44.5 per night (middle half US$35 to US$53). That segment has only 15 listings, so treat it as a small sample.

Which neighbourhood of Antigua is best to stay in?

We do not print rates by neighbourhood or walking distances on this page. Our sample has no neighbourhood field: 197 listings carry the town label Antigua Guatemala and 38 carry no town label, so we cannot split prices by area. For area background, see our pages on Centro Antigua and Jocotenango.

How much does a whole house for a group cost in Antigua?

In our 1 October 2026 sample, a whole place for four had a median of US$124.7 per night (20 listings), for six to eight guests US$276.505 (60 listings), and for nine or more guests US$415 (95 listings). Compare these group-size segments rather than one overall figure, because large homes are over-represented in the sample.

Is Vrbo or Booking.com cheaper than Airbnb in Antigua?

For four guests on the same stay dates, Vrbo had a median of US$127 per night in our sample, but from only 13 listings. We leave our Booking.com hotel-room figures out because our data file records that the scraper does not document whether its prices are per night or per stay.

Do places to stay in Antigua have air conditioning and parking?

In our 1 October 2026 Antigua sample, 9.7% of listings list air conditioning and 63.3% list parking. Check the amenity list of the specific listing before you book if either matters to you.

What safety steps should I take when choosing where to stay in Antigua?

The Government of Canada travel advice says to arrange your pickup with your hotel before arrival when travelling by air or to use authorized cabs at the airport, and to stay in accommodations with adequate security measures. It also lists 1500 or +502 2290-2800 for the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism and +502 5188-1819 (WhatsApp) for ASISTUR.
