San Pedro Sula is the one big Honduran city with a direct bus from Guatemala City that never touches El Salvador: a Pullman that crosses at Corinto, on the Caribbean side. Two of the names travellers expect here do not sell this pair at all: Pullmantur runs San Pedro Sula only to and from Tegucigalpa, and Tropic Air flies to San Pedro Sula from Belize, not from Guatemala.

Quick summary

  • Direct Pullman via Corinto: 05:30 and 23:00; USD 55 (AtitlanTour, 10 h) or USD 60 (Guatemala Transportation, 10-11 h). Neither agency names the bus company.
  • Tica Bus via San Salvador: two tickets and a night in San Salvador, because the only San Salvador to San Pedro Sula bus leaves at 06:00 (USD 40, El Amatillo).
  • Fly: TAG Airlines round trips from USD 481.
  • Pullmantur: no Guatemala to San Pedro Sula ticket; useful only if you are going on to Tegucigalpa.
  • Hedman Alas: its site did not load on 3 October 2026, so its Copán route is not quoted here.

The direct Pullman via Corinto

Read at each agency’s schedule page on 3 October 2026:

SellerDeparturesPriceTime as publishedNotes
AtitlanTour05:30 or 23:00USD 5510 hrsA/C, recliners, border crossing
Guatemala Transportation05:30 and 23:00USD 6010-11 hrsCrossing named as “El Corinto – Puerto Cortez”

Both agencies resell the same two clock times without naming the operating bus line or the boarding address in Guatemala City; ask before paying, and ask where it stops in San Pedro Sula. The crossing itself, with its hours on both sides, is on Corinto border crossing. The 23:00 departure is an overnight run; the night-bus considerations are on Guatemala night bus routes and safety.

Tica Bus: through San Salvador, with a night there

Tica Bus prints no Guatemala to Honduras row. Its timetable on 3 October 2026 (online-purchase fares):

LegDepartsScheduled arrivalFareDays
Guatemala → San Salvador (Diamante)05:30 or 14:0011:30 / 20:00USD 35Daily
Guatemala → San Salvador06:30 or 16:3012:30 / 22:30USD 2006:30 daily; 16:30 Monday to Friday
San Salvador → San Pedro Sula (Diamante)06:0016:00USD 40Daily, via El Amatillo

Because the San Pedro Sula bus leaves San Salvador only at 06:00, any Guatemala departure means sleeping in San Salvador: USD 60-75 in fares plus the hotel. That is more money and a day longer than the Corinto Pullman; it suits a trip that includes a stop in El Salvador. Terminals, phone numbers and the rest of the network are on Tica Bus from Guatemala.

Why not Pullmantur

Pullmantur’s fare and itinerary tables, read on 3 October 2026, list San Pedro Sula only against Tegucigalpa: 06:30 and 15:30 every day from Centro Comercial Ágora, 10 Calle, beside the Hyatt Place, about 3 hours 30 minutes, from USD 22 (Económica, promotional) to USD 40 (Primera Clase, normal). From Guatemala it sells San Salvador and Tegucigalpa, not San Pedro Sula. So Pullmantur fits this trip only in reverse order: Guatemala City to Tegucigalpa on its 06:00 through bus, then Tegucigalpa to San Pedro Sula, which is the long way round. That route is on Guatemala City to Tegucigalpa.

Flying

  • TAG Airlines lists San Pedro Sula under Honduras and showed it in its Destinos populares panel at USD 481 round trip on 3 October 2026. Its San Pedro Sula page is travel copy only: no schedule, flight time or airport name. TAG’s conditions say all flights close 45 minutes before departure.
  • Tropic Air lists San Pedro Sula (SAP) and Guatemala City (GUA) among its destinations. Its fare finder priced San Pedro Sula only from Belize City (from USD 428 round trip), and its Guatemala City to San Pedro Sula route page returned HTTP 404 on 3 October 2026. Do not plan on a Tropic Air nonstop on this pair.
  • Exit tax: leaving Guatemala by air, the INGUAT law (Decreto 1701, Art. 21 c) sets a tax equal in quetzales to US$30; leaving by land is exempt.

Breaking the trip at Copán

If you want the Copán ruins on the way, the shuttles to Copán leave Guatemala City at 04:15 for USD 50 (Guatemala Transportation; AtitlanTour lists the same time and price, 6 hours). We could not read Hedman Alas’s site on 3 October 2026, and none of the other sellers we read lists a Copán to San Pedro Sula leg, so this page gives no price or time for the second half. The Guatemala side and the El Florido crossing are on Guatemala to Copán and Honduras border crossings.

Before you go

  • Children: Tica Bus states that, under requirements set by the Honduran authorities, children between 12 months and 10 years old, of any nationality, must show a vaccination card with the measles dose to enter Honduras.
  • Your Guatemalan stay: what a trip into Honduras does to your days in Guatemala is in the CA-4 border run guide.
  • Going on to the Bay Islands: TAG also lists Roatán (round trips from USD 399 on its home page, 3 October 2026).

Fares, times and route lists read on each seller’s own site on 3 October 2026: Guatemala Transportation’s and AtitlanTour’s schedules, Tica Bus’s routes table, Pullmantur’s price and itinerary pages, TAG Airlines’ home page and Tropic Air’s fare finder. Hedman Alas’s site returned connection errors that day and is not quoted. Exit tax from the INGUAT organic law, Decreto 1701, Art. 21 c.
