These are Panajachel departures. A through-ticket starting in San Pedro La Laguna is not established by the operator listings reviewed here; confirm the actual pickup town before paying for a Lake Atitlan departure.

Marvelus Travel: catalogue versus product pages

Marvelus Travel is the reseller in this comparison; the named operators are Emotion Travel, Eterna Primavera and Magic Travel. Both sets of prices below were checked 25 October 2026. Product fares are explicitly per person; catalogue price labels are reproduced separately because the pages disagree.

The Emotion Travel and Magic Travel fares differ between pages. Eterna Primavera and Magic Travel also have different duration labels between the catalogue and product pages. Confirm the named operator, payable fare, departure and arrival details with the seller before completing a booking.

The product pages list Panajachel Hotel pickup. Their arrival-time fields say 05:30 pm for Emotion Travel and Eterna Primavera, and 16:30 for Magic Travel. Those clock fields are reproduced as published; they do not resolve the differences in advertised durations.

Marvelus Travel’s catalogue gives the destination as Plaza 31 de marzo - Plaza Central, Centro, 29200 San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chis., México, while the product route panels use San Cristobal De Las Casas Bus Station. Confirm the precise drop-off rather than assuming hotel delivery.

Border transfer: what the ticket establishes

Guatemala Transportation explicitly states that its Panajachel–San Cristobal service involves a bus change at the border. Its through-ticket listing does not name the crossing, so it does not establish La Mesilla / Ciudad Cuauhtémoc as the itinerary for that ticket. Confirm the crossing and the onward vehicle handover directly with the seller.

Leaving Guatemala and entering Mexico

Guatemala’s IGM exit requirements, checked 25 October 2026, list a valid passport in good condition, the destination visa if required and an interview. Foreign visitors who overstayed must present the original payment receipt for the fine or pay when completing migration checkout. People applying for temporary or permanent residence must present the respective exit permit.

Mexico’s official INM FMM conditions, checked 25 October 2026, allow electronic applications for foreign nationals entering by land at authorized international entry points. A valid passport is required; INM also mentions Passport Cards but restricts their use to land crossings and the border strip, excluding travel into the interior. A valid visa is required where the traveler’s nationality requires one.

The electronic FMM is for a visitor without permission for paid activities. Its 180 calendar days is a maximum for a single entry, counted from the immigration stamp and conditional on satisfying entry requirements. Print the FMM and present it at the entry point with the required travel document. Payment does not guarantee entry.

The INM conditions and IGM exit-requirements pages do not state the current Mexican FMM payment amount, fee exemptions or a routine Guatemalan tourist land-exit tariff.

Returning to Lake Atitlan

Guatemala Transportation lists San Cristobal de las Casas to Panajachel at 6:00 am, Monday to Friday, with 11hrs advertised, for US$60 per person, checked 25 October 2026. That is the reverse-direction listing; its duration does not establish the outbound journey time.
