A Guatemala honeymoon fits into ten nights: three in Antigua, three at Lake Atitlán, one on the overnight bus, two at Tikal and a last night back in Antigua, with an optional two nights on the Pacific coast at El Paredón. Go between November and April for the dry season in the highlands; Tikal is driest from February to April. The hotels below are the ones whose own websites published room rates on 4 November 2026, from USD 101.00 for a bungalow inside Tikal National Park to $250 for a garden-view room on Lake Atitlán. Transfer times and fares are Adrenalina Tours’ published shuttle prices, read the same day.

TL;DR: Antigua (3 nights) → Lake Atitlán (3) → Tikal (2) → back to Antigua or Guatemala City. The long leg is Atitlán to Flores, 16 hours by shuttle and night bus. Book the Tikal sunrise tour (04:00-06:00, Q100 extra) and sleep inside the park or in El Remate the night before.

When to go

Guatemala’s seasons are set by rain. On our month-by-month climate page, built on a 1996-2025 reanalysis series, November to April is dry in the highlands and on the Pacific coast, while May to October brings roughly 80-91% of the year’s rain. Antigua averages about 25°C by day and 14°C at night in January. Petén, where Tikal is, is driest and hottest from February to April. The Caribbean side gets rain in every month.

For fewer crowds, February stands out among the dry months: INGUAT counted 229,077 non-resident visitors in February 2025, against 370,164 in December. Antigua: three nights

Casa Santo Domingo, the Hotel Museum Spa Casa Santo Domingo, puts its rooms within the historic walls of the former Convent of Santo Domingo. Its own site lists:

Two more lake hotels publish no room rate on their own sites: Casa Palopó, at kilometre 6.8 on the road to San Antonio Palopó, and Laguna Lodge, whose reservation page lists a private boat from Panajachel, full breakfast and a nature reserve, and asks for a $300.00 non-refundable deposit per suite plus full non-refundable payment 60 days before arrival (prices quoted in US dollars). Tikal: two nights

Tikal National Park is 63 km, about an hour, from Flores, and is open from 06:00 to 18:00 every day. Entry for foreign tourists is Q150.00 (about US$20, C$27 or £15). The sunrise tour runs from 04:00 to 06:00 and the sunset tour from 18:00 to 20:00, each Q100.00 more for foreigners (about US$13, C$18 or £10), per the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Pacific. El Paredón, on the Pacific coast, is 3.30 hours from Antigua by Adrenalina’s shuttle at 09:00 or 14:00 (25 USD), with returns at 09:00 or 15:00 (25 USD). From Panajachel, a 13:00 shuttle takes 4 hours (35 USD). Places to stay are compared on where to stay in El Paredón.
