  • Moderate (broken bones, persistent pain, infections): private hospital in your city ($50-300 visit)
  • Severe (chest pain, severe trauma, suspected stroke): nearest emergency room — Hospital Nacional (public, free) for unconscious patient or no insurance; Herrera Llerandi (Guatemala City) or Hermano Pedro (Antigua) for fastest English-speaker care
  • Tropical illness suspected (dengue, zika, chikungunya): any hospital, mention symptoms specifically
