Pharmacies in Flores and Santa Elena (Peten)
Most visitors come to Flores/Santa Elena as a base for visiting Tikal and other Mayan ruins. Pharmacy options are concentrated in Santa Elena (the mainland town), while Flores island itself has very limited options. Stock up on any needed medications before heading into the jungle.
Where to Find Pharmacies
Meykos’s own branch list includes two Peten branches in Santa Elena (Metro Plaza Mundo Maya and Maya Mall). Farmacias Galeno lists no branch in Flores or Santa Elena; its branch directory (read 16 October 2026) lists two in San Benito, Peten: Barrio La Ermita, open 24 hours (2200-5610), and the municipal market, open 6:00-22:00 (1702). Apomedix lists no Peten branch (checked 16 October 2026). We could verify no phone or hours for the other local pharmacies listed below, which are in Santa Elena – if you are staying on Flores island, plan a quick tuk-tuk ride across the causeway.
Before Your Tikal Trip
Buy sunscreen, insect repellent (essential for Peten), rehydration salts, and any prescription medications in Santa Elena before heading to Tikal. Do not count on finding a pharmacy at the ruins.
