The Lost Property Report is an official PNC record you need to replace lost documents: DPI (RENAP), passport (IGM), drivers license (PNC Traffic), bank cards, and institutional ID cards. It is free, you get it online via the Digital Station in minutes, and it has full legal validity.
Summary: Free (Q0). Takes 10-15 minutes via Digital Station or PNC sub-station. You receive an electronically signed PDF valid for all replacements (RENAP, IGM, banks). The report expires after 30 days — use it to start replacement quickly.
Applies to: anyone who lost a document, wallet, phone, bank card, identified keys, or valuable personal item — and needs a report for replacement.
Lost-property report or robbery complaint? — which to choose
| Situation | What to file |
|---|---|
| It fell out of my pocket, I don’t know where | Lost property ✅ |
| I left it in an Uber/taxi/restaurant | Lost property ✅ |
| Searching at home, can’t find it | Lost property ✅ |
| Taken from me with violence or weapon | Robbery ⚠️ (public crime) |
| Pickpocket on bus, didn’t see who | Lost property or Theft (either works) |
| Lent it and they won’t return it | Theft / misappropriation |
| Accidental damage (got wet, broke) | NO need for report — go directly to replacement |
Tip: if in doubt, file LOST PROPERTY — it’s the fastest path to replacement and RENAP/IGM accept it without objection.

Requirements
- Valid DPI (if the lost item WAS the DPI, bring passport, RENAP birth certificate, or any photo ID)
- Detailed list of what was lost: document name + serial number + issuer + issue date if known
- For phone or laptop: brand, model, color, IMEI (on the box or invoice), serial, description of cases/stickers
- For cards: bank, last 4 digits (not the full card), type (debit/credit)
- Approximate location and date where you lost it
- Active email and phone to receive the signed PDF
Step-by-step process (Digital Station)
1. Access the Digital Station
Go to pnc.gob.gt/comisaria-digital/, select New Complaint → type Lost Property.
2. Identify yourself
Enter DPI, full name, email, and phone. If the lost item was the DPI, mark the option “Lost DPI” and upload an image of passport or RENAP birth certificate as alternate ID.
3. Detail what was lost
For each lost object/document:
- Document or object name
- Serial number / IMEI / card number (last 4 digits) / DPI/passport number (whatever you remember)
- Issuer (RENAP, IGM, bank, university)
- Issue date if known
- Physical description (color, case, distinctive marks)
4. Indicate location and date
- Approximate location: city, zone, specific place (“zone 10, restaurant X” or “don’t remember, possibly on bus from zone 1 to 11”)
- Approximate date: if you don’t recall the exact day, indicate range (“between May 5 and 7”)
5. Brief narrative
Write 50-100 words about what happened: “On May 5 I attended a meeting in zone 10. Returning home I noticed my wallet was missing. I possibly left it at the restaurant or it fell out of my pocket on the way.”
6. Submit and download PDF
The system generates the lost-property report electronically signed. Download it immediately and save to the cloud (Google Drive, iCloud). Print it if you’ll use it at RENAP, bank, or any institution requiring physical copy.
7. Use the report for replacement
Bring the report (digital or printed) + DPI to the corresponding institution:
- DPI → any RENAP office
- Passport → IGM in zone 4
- Drivers license → any PNC Traffic office
- Bank cards → your bank branch
Cost and timing
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Report cost | Free (Q0) |
| Report time | 10-15 minutes online |
| Report validity | 30 days from issue |
| DPI replacement time | 8-15 days post-report |
| Passport replacement time | 3-7 days post-report |
| License replacement time | 1-3 days post-report |
Common mistakes
- Waiting weeks to file the report — the report expires after 30 days. File it the same day you discover the loss.
- Not noting phone IMEI and serial — without that data, if it later appears on the black market, you can’t claim it
- Confusing lost vs. robbery when in doubt — for fast replacement, lost is better; for investigation, robbery
- Not downloading the PDF before closing the browser — if you close without downloading, you have to file the report again
