Festival Guatemala 2026 Providence: Moved to Sunday, October 4 at Dexter Park

Festival Guatemala 2026 has moved: it is now Sunday, October 4, 2026, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, at Dexter Park, 73 Dexter St, Providence, Rhode Island. The organizer, the Guatemalan Center of New England, gives the reason on its event page: “Due to weather conditions, we have a new date and location!” The original date, Sunday, September 13, at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park, no longer applies. The new details come from the organizer’s page at guatemalancenter.org, read on September 25, 2026.

The 2026 edition, as rescheduled

The organizer’s page is now headed “WE HAVE A NEW DATE AND LOCATION - TENEMOS NUEVA FECHA Y UBICACION”, and its Time & Location block reads “Oct 04, 2026, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM”. The same notice appears on the center’s main events page.

What changed

The organizer’s stated reason is the weather, and it says nothing more about the change. The festival is now three weeks later, it closes an hour earlier, and it is in a different park on a different ZIP code. If you saved the September date or the Roger Williams Park address, both are out of date.

Is it free?

The rescheduled page does not repeat the admission line. What the organizer has said in writing:

• For the original 2026 date, its listing said “FREE & OPEN TO ALL” (read 4 Sep 2026).
• Its 2025 event page says “The event is free to the general public and no RSVP is required.”
• The rescheduled page shows “Tickets are not on sale” and links to no ticket seller.

No price for 2026 appears on the organizer’s pages or on the Events in Providence listing. If you want it in writing for the new date, the contacts below are the organizer’s own.

What the festival is, in the organizer’s words

The rescheduled page has no description of its own. The organizer’s page for the 2025 edition describes the festival as “an annual event held in early September at Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island”, and says “Attendees can enjoy performances of traditional dances and music, including the marimba.” It also mentions Guatemalan and other international food from vendors.

For 2026, the listing read on September 4 said “Festival Guatemala returns to Providence for a vibrant celebration of Guatemalan culture, heritage, and community.” No lineup, vendor list or schedule of activities has been published for October 4.

Who runs it

The Guatemalan Center of New England publishes the festival on its own site. The footer of the Spanish version of the site says it was founded in 2010 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Its contact details differ between language versions of the event page, read on September 25, 2026:

• The English event pages list hello@guatemalancenter.org and (401) 678-7217.
• The Spanish event page footer still shows (401) 238-6149, the number the site listed on September 4.

The email address is the same on both, so it is the one contact that does not conflict.

Getting there

The organizer publishes the venue name and the address, Dexter Park, 73 Dexter St, Providence, RI 02909, and nothing else. It gives no parking, transit or entrance information.

One outside listing adds a detail: the Events in Providence calendar lists the festival’s location as Dexter Training Ground at Parade St and Willow St, Providence, RI 02909. That is a third-party listing, not the organizer’s own wording. Use the organizer’s address and check the organizer’s page on the day.

Combine it with consular paperwork

The Guatemalan Consulate in Providence, which covers Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, lists a Sábado Consular for Saturday, October 3, 2026, the day before the new festival date. That date comes from the MINEX 2026 schedule as checked on our consulate page on September 21, 2026. Confirm with the consulate before travelling.

A future edition is not yet announced

As of September 25, 2026, the Guatemalan Center of New England lists only the rescheduled 2026 festival. There is no 2027 date on its events page. The festival’s own event page and the center’s events page are where the organizer posted this change, so a future date would most likely show up there too.
