Centro Escolar Campoalegre, Zona 11: IB Diploma Girls' School (2026)

Centro Escolar Campoalegre is the APDE group’s school for girls in Zona 11 of Guatemala City, and an IB World School for the Diploma Programme since 16 December 2003. It sits on the same side of the city as El Roble, the group’s boys’ school, and the two share a bus system. It does not publish tuition. Everything below was read on 2 October 2026 at the IB’s register, MINEDUC’s registry of authorised schools and the school’s own pages.

The facts, with where each one comes from

About the registry rows. A search of MINEDUC’s registry by the name “Campoalegre” and by the address “35 calle y 12” returned the open primaria and diversificado codes above and a closed párvulos code. No básico row came up in either search. MINEDUC’s search by code did not work on the day we checked, so that is not proof that no básico code exists — ask the school for its MINEDUC code for each level.

About the website. The IB prints the school’s website as www.campoalegre.edu.gt. That address timed out when we tried it; the school’s pages load at campoalegre.apde.edu.gt, linked from the APDE group site.

The IB Diploma at Campoalegre

APDE describes the same double qualification at each of its secondary schools: the Guatemalan Bachillerato en Ciencias y Letras plus the IB Diploma. The IB record lists the subjects Campoalegre students are currently registered for:

One gap worth noticing: Mathematics: analysis and approaches is not on Campoalegre’s list, while El Roble and Entrevalles list both IB maths courses. No physics or chemistry is listed either. The record shows current registrations, not the full menu, so ask the school which courses it offers.

What the school publishes, and what it does not

Tuition. “La colegiatura APDE Campoalegre puede variar según el grado académico”, and for amounts the FAQ asks families to contact the school. The colegiatura includes family advisory sessions, parent and grandparent formation courses, excursions and special celebrations.

The entry-grade answer names the wrong school. On Campoalegre’s own FAQ, the answer about the latest grade a new student can join reads “el último grado para ingresar a APDE Entrevalles es en tercer curso”. The sister APDE pages each give tercer curso (tercero básico) as their own limit, so that is probably Campoalegre’s too — but the page does not say it about Campoalegre. Ask before you plan around it.

Admissions. The same four published steps as the other APDE schools: book a visit, a diagnostic test from Kinder upward, paperwork, enrolment. No document list for a child arriving from abroad is published; see enrolling a foreign child in a Guatemalan school for MINEDUC’s rules.

Transport. Morning drop-off hubs at Parroquia del Espíritu Santo and Centro Comercial Pacific Center, plus APDE La Villa with an extra charge. For girls in afternoon extracurricular classes, the bus drops off at no extra cost at San Cristóbal, La Fuente, Puma San Cristóbal, SanKris Mall, El Naranjo, Prociegos, Puma Majadas, Tikal 1, Naranjo Mall, APDE La Villa and 13 Calle. Door-to-door buses exist at a cost the page does not state.

Single-sex from primary. APDE’s FAQ explains its model of separate schools for girls and boys “a partir de la primaria”. Campoalegre’s transport page names APDE Las Charcas as the pre-primary on this side of the city.

Two claims to read carefully

• The claim that only APDE schools offer the IB. APDE says so on every school’s FAQ. The IB’s register lists six Guatemalan IB World Schools, two of them outside APDE: Antigua Montessori School (Diploma Programme since 20 December 2024) and Colegio Internacional SEK Guatemala (Primary Years Programme since 5 March 2026).
• The claim of a top-5 MINEDUC ranking. MINEDUC states in writing that it “no elabora rankings ni listados de ordenamiento sobre mejores establecimientos”. See how school rankings in Guatemala are built (in Spanish).

The school year

Not published on the pages we read. Campoalegre sits the IB’s November exam session, which fits the Guatemalan January-to-October year — an inference from the exam month, not a published calendar.
