Quick Box USA publishes the cheapest verified per-pound casillero rate we found in the 2026 USA-to-Guatemala courier market: $2.25 per pound under their Premium Annual subscription. That’s roughly 25% cheaper than the market-standard $3/lb most casillero couriers charge. The catch is the $99 annual subscription — it only pencils out if you ship more than ~44 lb per year.

Verification status: Partially verified. Rate structure and Miami PO box address are published on their site (quickboxusa.com.gt). Who writes this: We’re Guatemala Life, a Guatemala-based team. We track casillero couriers arriving into Guatemala because the dominant US-to-GT shipping pattern for online-shopping diaspora and expats is the Miami PO box forwarder model. Quick Box USA surfaced during our Q2 2026 courier market research as the lowest published rate — we ran their numbers against the market and they hold up.

Rate breakdown (verified from published rate card)

Plan Rate Annual fee Free weight Best for
Premium Annual $2.25 / lb $99 / year First 44 lb free Heavy shippers (80+ lb/year)
Premium Quarterly $2.35 / lb ~$25 / quarter n/a Seasonal shippers
Postal Plan $0.25 / oz = $4.00 / lb None n/a Occasional shippers
Airport management fee $5 / package Added to every shipment
Insurance (free) Up to $200 declared value Standard

Break-even math. The $99/year Premium Annual plan includes 44 lb free, so at $2.25/lb you need to ship roughly 44 lb + $99 / ($4.00 - $2.25) = about 100 lb/year to beat the no-subscription Postal Plan. Below 80 lb/year, stay on Postal. Above 100 lb/year, Premium Annual is the best deal in the market.

Rate in Quetzales. At Q7.75/USD, $2.25/lb ≈ Q17.4/lb ≈ Q38.4/kg. That’s competitive with the published Q23/lb Guatebox Aereo Express rate (~$3/lb). See today’s exchange rates.

Transit time

Stage Time
US retailer → Quick Box USA Miami warehouse 1-5 business days (depends on seller)
Miami warehouse → Guatemala City 72 hours (advertised)
Guatemala arrival → pickup at GT office 0-2 days (varies by location)
End-to-end typical 5-10 business days

Real transit is rarely 72 hours — the 72-hour figure is the flight and customs leg only. Budget 5-10 business days from when you hit “buy” on Amazon to when you pick up the package at Quick Box’s Guatemala office.

What to ship

Quick Box USA is ideal for:

  • Amazon and US retail orders — you ship to the Miami PO box using the address they give you at signup
  • Electronics — laptops, phones, tablets (subject to 12% IVA in Guatemala via simplified customs)
  • Clothing and textiles — low duty risk, fits well in per-pound model
  • Books and educational material — duty exempt in Guatemala
  • Consolidated multi-retailer shipments — order from 5 different US sites, Quick Box consolidates into one shipment to GT

What NOT to ship

SAT and US export rules prohibit or restrict:

  • Perishable food, live plants, live animals
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives
  • Alcohol in quantities above personal-use (triggers alcohol DAI 15-30% + IVA)
  • Prescription pharmaceuticals without a Guatemalan prescription
  • Counterfeit goods
  • High-value items without insurance upgrade — the free $200 insurance cap is low; upgrade if shipping a $2,000 laptop

Declared values over $500 USD trigger formal customs processing in Guatemala. That means higher DAI + IVA and possibly a broker fee. For a single $2,000 laptop, you’ll pay ~12% IVA = $240 in duty on top of shipping. Our import calculator runs the full math.

Gotchas

  1. The $2.25/lb rate only applies to Premium Annual subscribers. If you haven’t paid the $99, your rate is $4/lb (Postal Plan). Don’t assume the headline rate applies to your account.
  2. The $5 per-package airport fee adds up on consolidated shipments. A US consolidation of 5 separate retailers can mean 5 packages × $5 = $25 in fees on top of the per-pound rate. Ask about consolidation into a single outbound box.
  3. Miami PO box address changes. The exact street address for your Miami mailbox is assigned when you sign up — it’s not a generic address you can find online. Don’t ship to a generic “Quick Box Miami” address without confirming your assigned box number.
  4. Guatemala pickup office is in Guatemala City. If you’re outside GC, add intercity transport or home delivery (extra fee). Confirm the office hours before arriving — casillero pickup hours are typically Mon-Fri, limited Saturday.
  5. 72-hour advertised transit is best case only. Holidays, customs backup, and peak shipping season (November-December, Mother’s Day window) can push transit to 7-10 business days.

How Quick Box USA compares to the casillero tier

Courier Published rate Transit Subscription
Quick Box USA $2.25 / lb (Premium Annual) 72 hr advertised $99/year
Guatebox Q23/lb ≈ $3 / lb 1-3 days Aereo Express None (free account)
CPX ~$3 / lb 5-10 days None (free account)
Aeropost $3-$5 / lb 5-10 days None (free account)

Quick Box USA’s advantage: lowest per-pound rate if you ship over ~100 lb/year. Quick Box USA’s disadvantage: the $99 subscription makes no sense for light shippers, and the smaller company size means less brand recognition than CPX or Aeropost. Published rate is their best negotiating asset.
