Rates are quoted on real weight and are exclusive of IVA and import duty (DAI). Quick Box publishes DAI at 0-15% and IVA at 12% on import value on the same card.
What Premium actually is. It is a prepayment, not an annual membership. US$99 plus IVA buys 33 prepaid pounds, which is the $3.00/lb figure; Quick Box says the pounds draw down as you use them, whenever you want. The same 33 lb on the free Standard plan costs 33 × $3.30 = $108.90, so Premium saves roughly $9.90 across those pounds, plus free metro-area home delivery (Q8.40 a drop on Standard). Below 33 lb a year the prepayment is money sitting still — stay on Standard, which carries no subscription and no commitment.
Where the Postal Plan fits. US$60 buys 240 ounces (15 lb) at $0.25 an ounce. That is the lowest entry cost of the three and includes free metro home delivery, but per unit of weight it works out to $4.00 a pound — the most expensive of the three plans.
Rate in Quetzales. At Q7.62875/USD (Banguat reference rate, 3 September 2026), Premium’s $3.00/lb is about Q22.89/lb (~Q50.5/kg) and Standard’s $3.30/lb is about Q25.17/lb. Real transit is rarely 72 hours — the 72-hour figure is the flight and customs leg only. Budget 5-10 business days from when you hit “buy” on Amazon to when you pick up the package at Quick Box’s Guatemala office.

- Books — 0% DAI, but 12% IVA: the Ley del IVA has no book exemption (notebooks and pens pay 15% DAI)
- Consolidated multi-retailer shipments — order from 5 different US sites, Quick Box consolidates into one shipment to GT
What NOT to ship
SAT and US export rules prohibit or restrict:
- Perishable food, live plants, live animals
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives
- Alcohol in quantities above personal-use (pays DAI + IVA; beer, for example, is 40% DAI on SIECA’s tariff)
- Prescription pharmaceuticals without a Guatemalan prescription
- Counterfeit goods
- High-value items without insurance upgrade — the free $200 insurance cap is low; upgrade if shipping a $2,000 laptop
Declared values over US$1,000 take a parcel off the courier’s simplified declaration and into the general customs process, which can add a broker fee (RECAUCA arts. 566 and 573). The DAI and IVA rates are the same on either side of that line - there is no lower tax-free band for purchases. For a single $2,000 laptop (0% DAI), you’ll pay ~12% IVA = $240 on top of shipping. Gotchas
- Premium is prepaid pounds, not a discount you unlock. The US$99 plus IVA buys 33 pounds. If you do not use them, you have not saved anything — the free Standard plan at $3.30/lb has no commitment and is the right default until your volume is clearly above 33 lb.
- The quoted rates exclude IVA and DAI. The card says so explicitly, and it also says the Premium subscription itself is US$99 plus IVA. Your landed cost is the per-pound rate plus airport handling plus 0-15% DAI on the import value, plus 12% IVA on the import value + DAI.
- Airport handling is per package and stepped by weight, not flat. Five separate 4 lb-or-more packages means 5 × $6.00 = $30 on top of the per-pound rate. Ask about consolidation into a single outbound box.
- Home delivery outside the metro area is Q41 on both Standard and Premium. Free delivery is a metro-area benefit only, and on Standard even the metro drop is Q8.40. On the Postal Plan the departmental surcharge is Q15.
- Miami PO box address changes. The exact street address for your Miami mailbox is assigned when you sign up — it’s not a generic address you can find online. Don’t ship to a generic “Quick Box Miami” address without confirming your assigned box number.
- 72-hour advertised transit is best case only. Holidays, customs backup, and peak shipping season (November-December, Mother’s Day window) can push transit to 7-10 business days.

What is the airport management fee?
Airport handling is charged per package and stepped by weight: US$1.50 for 1 lb, US$3.00 for 2 lb, US$4.50 for 3 lb, and US$6.00 for 4 lb or more. Quick Box describes it as covering deconsolidation, customs-warehouse handling and storage, the customs agent, airport charges and transport from the airport to their warehouse. Does Quick Box USA include insurance?
