If your 2026 SAT vehicle sticker (calcomanía) is lost, stolen or damaged, most people assume they’ll have to pay again or run a long procedure at SAT. The reality is much simpler: the reprint is FREE from SAT’s Agencia Virtual as long as your annual ISCV is already paid. SAT does not charge a replacement fee for the PDF download — the tax is already settled, and the system lets you download the sticker as many times as you need.
The short version: If your 2026 SAT sticker is lost or was stolen, the REPRINT IS FREE from SAT’s Agencia Virtual — there is no surcharge because the tax is already paid. You need a PNC police report (if lost) or an MP report (if stolen). Important: since the 2025 traffic-law reform, PNC barely fines for not carrying the physical sticker anymore (CONFIRM: see reformed Traffic Law), but bring the police report and a printed digital copy just in case.
Procedure verified for fiscal year 2026.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged? Three Different Paths
The first step is to identify exactly what happened — the report you need depends on it:
| Situation | Report needed | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Lost (fell off, came unstuck, can’t find it) | PNC report | PNC station or online Comisaría Digital |
| Stolen (taken without consent) | MP report | Ministerio Público (office or online system) |
| Damaged / destroyed (rain, sun, accident, faded) | NO report needed | Just reprint from Agencia Virtual |
Legal note: Decree 70-94 establishes that the owner is responsible for paying the unit fabrication cost of plates and stickers in case of loss or destruction. In practice, because the 2026 sticker is electronic (PDF), there is no fabrication cost — that’s why the reprint comes out at Q0.
Step 1: File the Police Report
Option A — Online (NEW, recommended)
The PNC’s Comisaría Digital allows you to file a lost-property report without leaving home:
- Go to policiales.pnc.gob.gt
- Select “Denuncia por extravío de documentos / objetos” (report for lost documents/objects)
- Fill in the form: your DPI, vehicle details (plate, make, model), description of the loss and approximate date
- The system generates a report number and a PDF with PNC’s digital seal — download and save it
- Arrival of PDF: immediate
CONFIRM: the Comisaría Digital portal occasionally changes URL or structure — if the link does not load, search “Comisaría Digital PNC Guatemala” on Google.
Option B — In person
- Go to any PNC station with your DPI and the circulation card
- Explain that you want to file a report for a lost SAT sticker
- The officer fills out the report; you sign
- You receive a stamped copy of the report
- Time: 30-60 minutes depending on queue
If it was STOLEN (not lost)
Theft always goes to the Ministerio Público (MP), not PNC. Any item taken without your consent (including someone removing the sticker from your windshield) is reported as theft at the prosecutor’s office. CONFIRM: the MP also has an online reporting system for non-violent cases — verify availability at mp.gob.gt.
Step 2: Reprint from SAT Agencia Virtual
With the report in hand (or without it, if it was physical damage), the reprint process takes 5 minutes:
- Go to portal.sat.gob.gt/portal/impresion-calcomania — or from Agencia Virtual top menu > Consulta de Vehículos > Impresión de Calcomanía
- Log in with your NIT and password
- Enter the license plate number and fiscal year 2026
- The system verifies that the SAT-2000 form for ISCV 2026 has been paid
- The “Download / Reprint Sticker” button appears — click it
- A PDF downloads with the updated sticker, same vehicle data
Security tip: keep the PDF in your email and in a folder on your phone. If you lose it again, you reprint it immediately without going back to the SAT portal.
Step 3: Stick the New Sticker on the Vehicle
- Same location as the original: front windshield, lower right corner (passenger side) for cars; rear plate or visible part of the chassis for motorcycles
- Clean the surface with alcohol before sticking
- If you printed on regular paper, cover it with clear adhesive tape (book-cover type) to protect from Guatemala’s sun — heat degrades regular paper in 2-3 months
- Keep the police report + reprint receipt inside the vehicle for at least 30 days — if PMT/PNC stops you, the report explains why the new sticker doesn’t show the normal year’s wear
Is It Mandatory to Carry the Physical Sticker in 2026?
This is the most confusing question, and it’s worth being explicit:
| Period | Legal status |
|---|---|
| Until Feb 2025 | Mandatory to display the physical sticker on the windshield. Fine for not displaying it: CONFIRM Q500-Q1,000 per the Traffic Regulation (Acuerdo Gubernativo 335-2014). |
| From Feb 2025 (Traffic Law reform) | CONFIRM: it is NO LONGER mandatory to display the sticker physically. Digital verification (showing the PDF on a phone + plate up to date in the SAT system) is enough for PNC/PMT. |
| In practice 2026 | Carry it physical + keep the PDF on your phone. Digital rules apply, but some officers in rural areas still ask to see the sticker — avoid arguments by carrying it. |
Important: This page does NOT affirm that the fine has been repealed. The reform reduces the mandatory display, but the exact source (decree, article, effective date) requires official verification. CONFIRM with tránsito.gob.gt or by calling SAT 1550 before driving without the sticker on the windshield.
What If They Stole the Whole Vehicle?
If the theft was of the whole vehicle (not just the sticker), the procedure is different:
- Immediate report to the Ministerio Público (MP) for vehicle theft — it’s a defined crime, not a lost item
- Notify your insurance company within the first 24 hours if you have total-theft coverage
- SAT keeps your paid ISCV valid — you do not lose the year’s tax; it is registered to the NIT/plate
- If you recover the vehicle: the sticker is still the same (same NIT, same plate) and you reprint it from Agencia Virtual with no additional procedure
- If it is NOT recovered: check the vehicle transfer or deregistration procedure after the theft — the insurance company normally coordinates this
The ISCV is tied to the vehicle, not the sticker. Even if the car is stolen, the tax you paid remains proof that the plate was up to date during 2026.
If You Haven’t Paid Your 2026 Sticker Yet
This page is for replacement — it assumes your 2026 ISCV is already paid and you only need to reprint the sticker. If your ISCV has not been paid yet, first go to the main page:
- Calcomanía SAT 2026: How to Print It and Stick It — complete payment + initial printing process, cost table, deadlines and fines (Spanish only at this time)
Once the ISCV is paid at the bank and the 24-48 business hours of processing have passed, you can use this reprint process for later downloads.
Common Sources of Confusion
| Confusion | Reality |
|---|---|
| “I lose the sticker, I pay the ISCV again” | False — the ISCV is annual and paid once per fiscal year. Reprinting the sticker is free. |
| “I need to go to SAT in person” | False if it’s only a PDF reprint — all online. Only in-person if you also had plates or circulation card stolen. |
| “The police report has a cost” | False — the PNC or MP report is free on both channels (in-person or digital). |
| “Without a report I can’t reprint” | False — SAT does not require a police report to download the PDF, but the report protects you legally. |
| “The PDF on the phone is not valid” | False — the PDF downloaded from Agencia Virtual is the official document for PNC/PMT. |
| “If they steal it, PNC fines me” | CONFIRM — since the 2025 reform, the physical requirement was reduced; with police report + PDF it should be sufficient. |

How we verified this information
Last verified: May 2026. The procedures described here are based on Decree 70-94 (ISCV Law), the current operation of SAT’s Agencia Virtual, and the active reporting channels of PNC and MP. CONFIRM marks points where the direct official source was not available at publication — especially the exact validity of the fine for not carrying the physical sticker after the 2025 Traffic Law reform. We update this page when SAT publishes a dedicated replacement guide or when the physical-display regime changes.
