How much does pool maintenance cost in Guatemala? The pool companies we checked on 2 October 2026 do not publish a price for their service. What you can price in advance is the chemicals. At Novex, 10 lb of 90% trichlor granules costs Q300 (about US$39) and five 90% trichlor tablets Q75; Cemaco sells 2 lb of 90% chlorine granules for Q59.50; Aquasistemas sells 65% chlorine granules at Q190 for 10 lb. A gallon of preventive algaecide is Q230 at Novex.

- Corporación Aquática sells a weekly service: one visit a week by a trained technician who cleans the filter equipment, runs a chemical analysis of the water and applies the chemicals. It lists technicians by region: Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala; Escuintla, Amatitlán and Chiquimulilla; Suchitepéquez and Lake Atitlán; Retalhuleu, Coatepeque and Malacatán; the Verapaces, Jalapa and Jutiapa.
- Aquasistemas lists water-parameter measurement using the Langelier index, with the chemical dose set for each season; a written report for each visit; chemical application in monthly plans or as needed; leaf and debris removal; maintenance of the filter and pump and of salt chlorinators and automation; a repair workshop; and a 24-hour emergency service. - Grupo Watermanía sells chemicals, equipment and maintenance advice and technical service, including ozone and salt-chlorination systems as alternatives to standard chlorine. Phone: +502 2383-6700.
None of the three pages gives a price for the service. When you ask for a quote, ask:
- How many visits a month, and what each visit includes (brushing, vacuuming, filter backwash, chemical test).
- Whether chemicals are included or billed on top, and at what price.
- Whether a visit outside Guatemala City (Antigua, the coast, Atitlán) costs extra.
- Whether they leave a written record of the water readings after each visit.

Not comparable at a glance: 90% chlorine (Novex’s trichlor, Cemaco’s Duraclor) and 65% chlorine (Aquasistemas) are different products at different strengths, so a price per pound does not compare them. None of the three retailers’ pages gives a dose for a pool of a given size; Aquasistemas has a pool-chemicals calculator page on its site. Grupo Watermanía stocks 90% trichlor granules in 10, 30, 50 and 110 lb sizes and 65% calcium hypochlorite in 10, 30, 50 and 100 lb, but its page shows no prices.
If you rent a house with a pool
Check the lease for who pays for pool upkeep. If the owner pays for the service, ask for the company’s name and visit schedule; if you pay, get a quote from one of the companies above before you sign.
