Guatemala does not maintain a separate embassy in Dublin, which means Irish residents must use the London office for all in-person consular services: passport renewal, DPI, birth registration, apostille, notarial services. Some routine inquiries may be handled by email, but document issuance generally requires an in-person appointment in London.

If your place of residence is outside the UK or Ireland, use the nearest Guatemalan consulate for your jurisdiction (Madrid for Spain, Brussels for Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg, etc.). Service at a consulate outside your jurisdiction may be refused.

Booking an appointment

The MINEX citas consulares portal still resolves but serves no appointment form, so there is no working central online booking system. Contact this consulate directly using the details above to ask how it is currently handling appointments.

We verified on 9 September 2026 that MINEX tells readers they may attend a United States consulate with or without a prior appointment, and that US appointments are booked by phone with each consulate. We have not verified that the same applies in London, so we do not state it here – ask the consulate.

Passport renewal: what to bring

• Current or expired passport
• Valid or recently expired DPI (Guatemalan national ID)
• Completed application form
• Payment: US$65 (5 years) or US$100 (10 years) under IGM’s tariff (Acuerdo IGM-029-2023, Art. 4) — ask how the consular section collects it in the UK
• For minors: birth certificate, both parents present or notarized authorization, ID of both parents

Processing time: 4-6 weeks. The passport is printed in Guatemala by Migracion and mailed back to the London consulate for pickup.

Ireland coverage

Because Guatemala has no embassy in Dublin, Irish residents are formally accredited to the London consulate. For Guatemalans in Ireland:

• All in-person services (passport, DPI, apostille, birth registration, notarial) require traveling to London.
• Email inquiries to consuladoUK@minex.gob.gt are answered for general questions and document status checks.
• Occasionally MINEX organizes a consulado movil (mobile consulate) that visits Dublin for a weekend to handle passport and DPI applications for the Irish-based Guatemalan community. These are announced 1-2 months in advance on the embassy’s social media and website.

2026 Saturday consular service

The London consulate’s Saturday service calendar is not published on the same standard MINEX schedule as US consulates. Some Saturday or weekend appointments may be available — verify directly with the London consular section by phone or e-mail.
