How much does plastic surgery cost in Guatemala? Of the ten Guatemalan plastic surgeons and clinics we checked on 2 October 2026, only one publishes prices. That list is on Dr. Paul Ouddane’s directory profile on Crisalix (a 3D-simulation platform used by surgeons), read on 2 October 2026: a tummy tuck from GTQ 37,500 (about US$4,908), rhinoplasty from GTQ 39,000 (about US$5,104), breast augmentation from GTQ 42,000 (about US$5,496) and a first consultation for GTQ 400. Quick summary (read 2 Oct 2026): One surgeon publishes starting prices from GTQ 37,500 (tummy tuck) to GTQ 56,000 (facelift or neck lift); first consultation GTQ 400. None of the other nine surgeons and clinics we checked shows a price. Check any surgeon’s colegiado number with the Colegio de Médicos and look for them on the national plastic-surgery association’s member list. This page is a price guide, not medical advice.
USD figures are our conversion at the Banguat reference rate for 2 October 2026, Q7.64136 per dollar, rounded (today’s rate). The surgeon’s prices are in quetzales (GTQ).
The one published price list
Dr. Paul Ouddane practises at Kintsugi Cirugía Plástica, Edificio Médico Obelisco, Avenida las Américas, Guatemala City. His Crisalix profile lists these prices, each marked “desde” (from), except the consultation:

What the list does not tell you: whether the starting price covers the hospital or clinic, the anesthesiologist, implants, compression garments, medicines or follow-up visits. Ask for an itemised written quote. The same profile lists the ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) under certifications, and English, Spanish and French as languages spoken.
Surgeons and clinics we checked that publish no price
Checked on 2 October 2026:
- Dr. Salvador Recinos (Edificio Sixtino, zona 10) — his surgery-prices page has a form to request the price of a procedure; no figures.
- Clínica Contour — the tummy tuck and liposuction pages say the price depends on each patient and is set after an evaluation; its rhinoplasty price article gives no figure.
- Dr. Alfredo Longo — breast augmentation page, no price.
- Dr. Alejandro Reyna — home page, no price.
- NuGenesis Plastic Surgery — says a Crisalix simulation is included in the consultation price, without stating that price.
- Crisalix profiles of Dr. Stefan Preuss, Dr. Rafael Biguria, Dr. German Vargas, Dr. Eriberto Orellana Morales and Dr. José Fernando López — no price section.
Price-comparison directories that list Guatemala (WhatClinic, MediJump) were not counted: one refused our request and the other’s page is gone.
How to check a surgeon before you book
- Colegiado number. The Colegio de Médicos y Cirujanos de Guatemala states that practising a medical profession requires active membership (Colegiado Activo). Ask the surgeon for the number. The Colegio’s online portal is for members (credit hours, account status), so confirm a number by contacting the Colegio (info@colegiodemedicosycirujanos.gt). How the process works: colegiado activo (Spanish).
- The specialty association. The Asociación Guatemalteca de Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reconstructiva publishes a member list with each surgeon’s specialty and contact. We read 38 names on it on 2 October 2026; its history page says the association has 46 active members, recognised by the Colegio de Médicos since 7 July 1971. A surgeon missing from the list is a question to ask, not proof of anything.
- Where the operation happens. Dr. Alfredo Longo’s advice page says the clinic, sanatorium or hospital should be approved by the Ministerio de Salud Pública y Asistencia Social (MSPAS) for the surgery in question. Ask which facility will be used and whether it holds that approval.
For readers flying in from the US or Canada
- The US averages are only part of the price. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons lists average costs of US$8,174 for a tummy tuck, US$7,637 for a rhinoplasty, US$4,875 for breast augmentation with implants and US$4,711 for liposuction, and says each average is only part of the total price: it does not include anesthesia, operating-room facilities or other related expenses. The Guatemalan starting prices above do not say what they include, so the two are not directly comparable.
- Flying after surgery. The CDC’s Yellow Book chapter on medical tourism notes that air travel and surgery each raise the risk of blood clots, and relays the ASPS recommendation to wait 7 to 10 days before flying after cosmetic procedures to the face, eyelids or nose. Plan your return date with your surgeon.
- Records and follow-up. The same chapter advises getting copies of your medical records from the overseas provider in English, to give to whoever does your follow-up at home.
- Insurance. Read your policy’s exclusions for elective surgery abroad and its complications before you book. See travel insurance for Guatemala.
