How do I report a water outage in Guatemala City?
Call EMPAGUA at 1502 (general) or 2333-9292 (24-hour emergency line), or message them via Facebook (facebook.com/empaguagt). Have your customer number (NIS) ready, found on your most recent water bill.
What about water outages outside Guatemala City?
Each municipality runs its own water utility, called a 'junta de agua' or 'oficina municipal de agua'. Contact your municipal office directly. The Ministry of Health (MSPAS) publishes water quality reports periodically.
Why does my zone in the city lose water?
Common reasons: scheduled maintenance (announced in advance via EMPAGUA's Facebook), water main breaks (especially during rainy season), pump or tank issues at the colonia level, or your building's internal cistern needs a refill (a private issue, not EMPAGUA).
