Where does this data come from?

Our cost of living data comes from field research, INE (National Statistics Institute) data, MAGA wholesale market prices, and interviews with local residents and expats in each department. We update the data quarterly.

What do the budget, comfortable, and luxury tiers mean?

Budget: Basic lifestyle — shared housing or simple room, cooking at home, public transport. Comfortable: Your own apartment, mix of cooking and dining out, mixed transport. Luxury: Premium furnished apartment, frequent dining out, own vehicle or Uber.

Are these prices in dollars or quetzales?
