Chichicastenango is famous for its Thursday and Sunday markets – one of the largest indigenous markets in Central America. The town has limited pharmacy options, dominated by Farmacias Batres with two locations.

Market Day Tips

On market days (Thursday and Sunday), the town gets extremely crowded. If you need a pharmacy, go early before the market crowds peak (around 10 AM - 2 PM). The Batres locations are near the market area but can be hard to reach during peak hours.

Limited Options

Chichicastenango is a small highland town with no 24-hour pharmacies. Farmacias Batres stays open until 11 PM, which is your latest option. For anything beyond basic medications, you may need to go to Santa Cruz del Quiche (30 minutes) or Quetzaltenango (1.5 hours).
