Once you are set up to issue FEL (Factura Electronica en Linea), you have two options: use SAT’s free tools (Agencia Virtual and the App FEL mobile app), or subscribe to a certified provider (certificador autorizado) that offers better software, integration, and features. This guide compares the main FEL providers in Guatemala as of April 2026.

Quick summary: SAT tools are free but basic. Paid providers charge Q50-Q500/month and offer better UX, mobile apps, desktop software, API integration, and team features. For one-person service businesses, free SAT is enough. For growing companies and retail/restaurants, a paid provider saves hours per week.

Free SAT Option

Before paying for a certified provider, understand what SAT offers free:

Agencia Virtual (Web)

  • Issue invoices from any web browser
  • Access to your DTE history
  • Free, no registration beyond your normal SAT Agencia Virtual credentials
  • Limitation: basic UI, one invoice at a time, no templates, no customization, no automation

App FEL (Mobile)

  • SAT’s official mobile app (iOS and Android)
  • Issue invoices from your phone
  • Offline mode (with sync when connectivity returns)
  • Free
  • Limitation: same basic feature set as Agencia Virtual

For a freelancer or solo consultant issuing 5-20 invoices per month, the free SAT option is genuinely sufficient. The main reason to move to a paid provider is speed, integration with other business systems, or features for a multi-user team.

There are ~10-15 certified FEL providers in Guatemala. The main ones (by market share):

Which Provider Fits Your Business?

Freelancer, Solo Consultant, Low Volume (< 30 invoices/month)

Use SAT’s free tools. Agencia Virtual + App FEL give you everything you need. Paid providers do not add enough value at this volume.

Small Business, 30-200 invoices/month

Infile, Superfactura, or GuateFacturas. Pick based on UI preference and accounting software integration. Q100-250/month is easily justified by time saved vs. the free SAT tools.

E-commerce or Online Store

Superfactura or Infile. Both have solid API integrations with popular e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, custom systems) and can auto-generate invoices when orders complete.

Retail Store or Restaurant with POS

Megaprint. Its POS integration ecosystem is the most developed. If you already use a POS system, ask your POS vendor which FEL provider they integrate with — usually Megaprint is on the list.

Multi-User Team / Office With Several People Invoicing

Infile or Superfactura. Both have multi-user team features with role-based access. SAT’s free tools do not have proper team support.

Large Enterprise (500+ invoices/month)

G4S Document Secure or custom API integration. At high volume you need enterprise features (audit trails, compliance reports, custom workflows) that only the enterprise-grade providers offer.

Accountant Managing Multiple Clients

Infile. The strongest “accountant portal” features in the Guatemalan market — switch between client companies, batch processing, consolidated reports.

Migration and Switching

Can you change providers? Yes, easily. FEL is a certification system where all providers issue invoices under the same SAT standard. You are not locked into any provider — your DTE history is always accessible through SAT’s Agencia Virtual, regardless of which provider you use to generate invoices.

To switch:

  1. Sign up with the new provider
  2. Import your existing customer database (CSV or manual)
  3. Use the new provider for new invoices
  4. Cancel the old subscription

There is no data migration needed for the invoices themselves — they are all archived in SAT.

Integration with Accounting Software

If you use accounting software, check which FEL provider integrates:

  • Alegra — integrates with Infile, Superfactura
  • Siigo — integrates with Infile, Megaprint
  • ContaPaq — integrates with Megaprint, Infile
  • QuickBooks (with Guatemala module) — limited, usually manual CSV import
  • Excel/manual — compatible with all providers (copy/paste or CSV)

If you are just starting, pick the combination that your accountant is most comfortable with. Switching later is possible but adds friction.

Setup Process (Typical)

  1. Activate FEL with SAT first — this is mandatory regardless of which provider you later choose. See our FEL habilitacion guide.
  2. Choose a provider and sign up — most offer online signup with identity verification
  3. Connect your SAT credentials — the provider uses your SAT Agencia Virtual credentials to certify invoices on your behalf
  4. Test with a practice invoice — most providers let you issue a test DTE to verify everything works
  5. Start issuing invoices — real invoices are certified and sent to SAT automatically

Total setup time: 1-2 hours for most providers, 1-2 weeks for enterprise integrations.

Common Questions

Are all certified providers legally equivalent?

Yes. All invoices generated through any SAT-certified provider have identical legal status. The choice is about features and user experience, not legality.

Will SAT know which provider I use?

Yes, but it does not affect your tax obligations or audit risk. Each DTE is tagged with the certifying provider.

Can I use multiple providers at once?

Technically yes, but it is a mess. Pick one and stick with it for operational simplicity.

What happens if my provider goes out of business?

Your historical DTEs remain in SAT’s Agencia Virtual permanently — they are never “lost.” You can switch to another provider immediately with no legal risk.

Do providers take a percentage of my invoice value?

No. All providers charge fixed monthly fees or per-invoice fees. None take a percentage of the invoice value.
